well, i'm on the modification train...so far i have learned many basics to tweeking any unit or faction available...thanks to trial and error and the aids of various modders in here and also elsewhere...what i've been working on recently is a mongol HIGH period campaign which begins in, yes u guessed it, 1231...
if anyone is interested in mongols or pagans and what i have done so far, or whatever...let me know here...i'll be sure make a detailed post somewhere in the Dungeon on how i did this or that...
it will be a while until i am perfectly happy with my mods, as i am no expert yet, much more work to do, so i'm not going to have any mod downloads for a while, higher goals must be reached 1st, but i'll be happy to share stuff i've done so far, especially for all you freakish pagans, http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif ...on a side note...all the work i started with medieval 1.1 or whatever, i'm now doing all the mod work with the viking expansion...and knome editor is always a helpful tool...its on org if needed,
anyway thought i'd let peeps know...cheers http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/cheers.gif
...just hope i can speed the peers along...
That's actually a good idea Might make one for myself aswell
Just one specific question; you just gave the Mongols a large army on the campaignmap to start out or did you do something else?
This could make playing as the Golden Horde quite interesting

Keep at it Seven. Do post your mods in the Alchemist lab as that is where most people go to find out all the nitty gritty on TW mods.

Well actually was just wondering your approach on this.
I had a thought that maybe you could start the High period in 1231, make the Golden Horde a major faction and then start the game as the Golden Horde, hoping the Golden Horde would immediatly have spawned giving you a massive force at random.
But I doubt this will be possible. I think it's triggered when you go from 1230 to 1231. Would have been very nice if it is/was so.

well, when i make high start in 1231, give khazar to the golden horde, and stick as many mongol troops in that province as i want, all is well...and its necessary to move quickly out of khazar and conquer all those other rebel lands, afterall, why show up with a horde and just sit in khazar smokin cigs and sleeping late? http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

hmm, well i did something new, i tried a danish campaign in early, but i added the swiss as a major faction there...just add in all the relevant stuff from the late period for the swiss into the early period, and if u leave it that way, meaning their faction leader units remain as swiss armoured pikemen, AND they have like i think 3 cav units total, i noticed that they do rather well even though they start out with just the tiny tiny little switzerland...i made them a catholic defensive faction and going at it like that, they make some havoc in europe and in the one campaign so far, they wiped out the germans in a few decades even without my danish meddling in the mainlands of western europe...cool stuff, dont forget about those swiss dudes, they have potential, http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
don't modd too much... just made all of my gunmen have machine guns and such.... rapid fire cannons.... the works to cheat the game of its difficulty
yep, I made an equivalent of a kensai except boosted and he has organ gun shots that are longer ranged than siege cannons
At least he is a single man unit for a semblance of balance. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
Yeah it's always fun to make super MG's http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-2thumbsup.gif
Btw seven, have you been able to make a pagan priest? Whenever I do a Pagan game (do it myself) I just use the Cardinel and change its name, description and stats.
If you haven't maybe you should ask about it in the dungeon.
Good luck with your modding. Modding really made this game more fun. I can now do almost all minor modding excepting making factions.
