Hi everybody

I've uploaded the second version of Fall of Rome mod for MTW-VI, it should cover the dark age between 350ad and 850ad.

Any suggestion is welcomed.
Any bug report is also welcomed ( i couldn't test the mod deeply because of lack of time, possible bugs will be resolved ASAP)

some screenshot are in the Full version download section of the Org.

This mod is excellent. are the cool Bif files from version 1 gone for good, or will they come back in the next version?

I think you mean the info_pic bif files. If so .. well they are gone for good, i don't know if they'll come back (..copyright problems..), sorry.

probably the mod will be downloadable as single file from the download section of the Org in some days. I think.

Maximus Decimus Meridius I salute you http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/cheers.gif

I´ve played it through as the Danes and Anglo-Saxons, starting in 430 AD, and I enjoyed all the new feats you´d put in. A few thoughts:

1. It´s difficult to see how large army the Romans have because the color is too close to white.
2. It´s a bit unorthodox to have the orthodox architecture for the Romans, don´t you think?
3. Game-map doesn´t contain proper regions names for the time period you mod is reflecting. It´s just a small thing that makes the game so much more fun don´t you think?
4. I noticed that the GA´s are playable so I did and the game CtD 3 times as the Danes and 2 times as the A-S´s. So I guess that GA is out of the question right?
5. Pagan should really be the major religion in atleast Scandinavia in the beginning.
6. I strongly belive that the vikings should not be able to build cavalry. First cav used in Sweden for instance wasn´t until around 1100. The Danes probably used cav a 100 years earlier so focus on axe and sword-units. And for the royal unit just make it a jomsviking-unit instead.
7.There´s no gold in Sweden BUT a hefty iron depoist. You have it among tradable goods so you should think of changing it to a iron-mine instead,
8. As usual the Brittish Isles is getting hammered by the frogs so take away the landbridge connecting Flanders to Wessex.
9. Let the vikings start with atleast one ship.
10. If you think of "spicing" up the vikings I know I saw a viking-mod amongst "files" here at the org. The vikings have their raiding ability.
11. The ability to create region-specific fyrdmen in Mercia is gone and I sorley missed it when playing the A-S. I also belive that you could incorporate some Saxon-units from VI into the A-S´s ranks.
Hope you take some suggestions to you liking. I´m going through a lot of mods right now because my involvement in Norseman´s "Fury of the Northmen mod" so if you want more feed-back on other factions, ideas etc please let me now. Good luck

Hi Pse Ramesses

Thanks for your thoughts, i'll try to answer you in the better way i can

About the roman colours, maybe in the next version i will change them, in order to make Romans more realistic. (Same thing for the architecture.) the names of provinces, etc. will be changed in the next version, obviously.

I'm making a new starpos file in order to give the mod a more historical look, the same thing for non correct units features (i'll re-work the crusadre units prod file...).
for the GA.... well for the moment they are not playable, sorry, i'll have to make other test about this...

But there is not possibility to build saxon fyrdmen in mercia? mmmh.. maybe it is a mistake ... i'll see it and i'll try to solve the problem.

thanks for your suggestions

Mod is good, I think it would be alot better with some custon bifs especially for the Persians it seems their heavy cavalary all use the same one. I also think some countries have far too few specialized units and some far too many it almost seems ex. Byzantine.
I think the use of the pope is useless, ive played campaign near 30 times now trying out the different countries etc, and everytime the Romans sack the pope within the first 10 turns, ive never seen the barbarians use the crusade ability to attack the Romans.. Also I have to say the romans get raped about no matter what you do, well this did happen so I cant argue with that :P

I thought the Huns were going to be included?? I saw some hun cavalry as merc. units.. but I think they would be better than the Khazars.
Also not sure if you wanted to include saxon huscarles, but I seem to not be able to make them as the Saxons?

Germans need some more "barbaric units" give them the look of the beserks but with axes and larger shields I think that would do it, they should also be quite hard to control "May charge without orders" etc.

Good mod I enjoyed it.

This is a really great mod, barring so technical problems I'm having. Started a campaign as the W Romans. Now I'm, fighting a two front war against the Visagoths and Bulgarians. I have a large army in croatia, but I've managed to corner the entire Vgoth army(~2000) in Aragon, under the command of a 7 star general http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/eek.gif I'm not even sure I have that many troops.

Hi,

I downloaded your mod, awesome mod. i have a question, should i play it with default unit size, because when i play as the Romans, I get a CTD every 50, 60 turns.

Hi all

Only a few things in order to answer some your questions.

I'm starting to modify the version 2.0 startpos files in order to give the mod a more historical look, Hross af Guttenburg is giving me a great help ( he is giving me a big amount of historical material, like the latin names of provinces and countries, the faction descriptions etc.etc.), so i think that the next version of the mod will be much more realistic. i hope.
(I also will change the west roman colours to give them a better visibility.)

CDT every 50, 60 turns? I haven't found the solution yet, sorry.
Huns abd Bulgar tribes are the same thing, historically the Bulgar were a small part of the Hun people, so in the mod they are the same.

thanks for your opinions.
