I´ve made an overview, where to find riverbattles:

That you get a riverbattle is not random:
It depends from which province you´re attacking another province.

As example: If you attack Austria from Hungary you´ll get no river, but you´ll get one if you attack Hungary
from Austria.
Often its vice versa: I have signed this with .
The arrow gives the direction from which province to which province of attacking to get a riverbattle.
Sorry the map has german names, but I´m sure you can read them.

You can download the whole campaignmapimage with this link:

You do realize this information is directly available to everyone, right? Open up the province summary of the place you're planning on invading from, float your cursor over the target and it tells you the terrain you'll fight in at the bottom of the summary screen, including whether it's a bridge or not.

Its an overview: If anyone can need it, its good.

More precisely, it changes when you put your mouse over a border as opposed to the central area. If you mouseover central burgundy, no waterways are mentioned, but if you mousover the border with IdF, a river is listed.

I believe it is a great contribution in a great effort to map down all the valuable info from M:TW. Well done, Lord Antalis::

It can be found, but a reference is always handy. Always. Good job.

Nicely done Antalis. Its something I can look at when I can't play, to plan my strategy when I'm bored.

Yes it's quite interesting to look at it this way as an image. Having a visual such as this helps me memorize the locations better. Curious why they didn't just draw little bridges on the map itself as a visual reference. Likely so that you would get surprised now and then when you forget to check? Well I don't like surprises, so I'm off to study this.

It is marked on the map, albeit vaugely. There are rivers on the map and wghere they cross a border you will always get a river battle going one way over that border, but not always both ways.

The reference is great though, I didn't know there were any river battles in england.

I´ve checked Viking Invasion:

Very interresting:

Only 3 riverbattles on the whole map:
Not worthy to make an image for it:
