View Full Version : V/V mod and program question
With everyone being so smart at modding and knowing how to change around how the game works, how come we cant get into the program and take a look at how the V/V system really works?
What Im proposing is to get into the program and take a look at how the chinless wonder trait is triggered, or when the game will grant the increase from Great Warrior to Might Warrior. Or even what one must do to become a drinker.

Atila1, this is a very good modding question, so I'm going to move it to the Alchemist lab forum.

Hrm, worthy indeavor to say the least
I often wonder same thing
Some Observations no based on actual file diging but sheer gameplay behavior.
I kind of noticed it has to do with events on each province every year, some Virtues are predictable. Some seem totally random.
Like, during intensive construction usually Generals siting in that province would get a higher chance of becoming Great Builders.
I started to notice that generals moved through sea often, or born in islands would tend to have higher chances of becoming Great Traders.
There are many V/V however, and several degrees of some of them.
And althought some depend on events like getting maried for some Secret Vices, the majority seem to be linked to the province of origin, or province where they are stationed.
But would sure be nice to explore this for sure. I am not volunteering for the task, I am very slowly expanding moding knowledge of this game, and I am still a Noob, but I am sure all the Moding specialists in the Org can certaintly find out something :)
I THINK you get:
Great Warrior to Mighty Warrior by killing a bunch of people.
Drinker by staying in a province that has wine or mead as a tradable good.
Chinless wonder .... who knows. Seems pretty random. I blame the leading aristocrats daughter http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif

I hate chinless wonder vice, especially on your heirs and that nice 4 star general you were grooming for bigger and better things.
I think a deeper look into this is a good idea-perhaps we may be able to find a way to make our own..?
I have looked around the program files many times and found many interesting things but I have never seen anything that relates to V&V's.
anyone have any knowledge on this?
there are certain things with V/V's that I know are triggered by actions---for instance, you get the "Resilient" trait only when an assassin trys to kill your character.
I am starting to think that all the V/Vs are triggered by something and arent actually random.

Hmm... I think some are caused by certain events, and others are totaly random made to prevent a general from getteing too good. I blame the Designers.

Suraknar, are you sure about getting great trader from sea travel? if so, I'll treat my king to cross empire sea voyages every turn along with all my governors
I hate those random loon vices.
In a recent Sicilian PBM game, I had a nice prince who was fine leader whogets crackbrained for no reason and suddenly gets morale penalty that cancels out his biggest strength.
Why do they discover odd number of toes when they are 40 and that they develop a penchant for horseshoes at 30?
I think most of these are random. BTW, I think there was a farming virtues thread in either main hall or entrance hall not long ago.
