I bought the original Shogun the day it hit the shelves, and also have the Mongol invasion, so I have been here from the outset. In all my many games of Shogun, I have never, ever been visited by a priest, is that uncommon? What do they look like? Are they even convincing?

Priests don't come to you unless you are a christian daimyo. He comed from another christian daimyo, and that christian daimyo must be very weak and almost near collapse.

i.e. Daimyo A has 1 province surrounded by enemy with big armies.

Daimyo B is another big clan with bigger armies around the bigg armies.

Daimyo A sends priest because both A and B are christian.

Thats the most common example.
