I play on MTW a lot more than I used to and I noticed that if ur not part of a clan then your not going to get notice or any respect as a okayer. So i was wondering if u guys think clans are worth joining. I used to be a part of one of the biggest clans on Empire Earth and RoN so ive been in em before.

Some of them are worth it http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif It all depends on your anticipated level of involvement with the game. Also, some clans require more involvement than others. Just play with some clan members, and if you enjoy playing with a good number of people from a particular clan, look into joining them. There are a number of advantages, including the ability to play in more competitive games, and everything else that goes along with being part of a clan. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-gossip.gif

Depends on how serious you want to take your gaming. Participation in competitions (most of them) can only be done with clans.

However, if you are a casual player 3 hours a week I think one does not need them.

Clans tho, have great potential and you can meet like minded gamers, so I think clans are basically a good idea.

Greetings The Silent Assasin. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif Thanks for bringing yourself and your question to the Org.

To add to what the others have said, my word of advice is to be patient. Take your time and make sure you join a clan that is right for you if you decide to go that route.

I don't think you need to join a clan to establish your reputation. However, I think it helps if you get into games with them. Establish a good reputation with some clans and I think the word will get around. This has the added bonus of giving you some first hand exposure to a variety of clans. This will help you in picking a clan to join should you so desire.

Well...my lone experience in a clan was with Operation Flashpoint. Not a good one. I was insulted evertime I was missing a training(even If I had explained why I couldn't attend late weekday trainings). The other clan was the total opposite : you play when you can, & if you meet clanmates, you play together, bar none

Try & error is the lone way to learn, I fear...

Well Assassin, you don't need a clan to establish a good reputation (Wintermute_25 would be an example). I'm not a master on the subject seeing as how im still fairly new to MP. But, I would really suggest putting thought into which clan you're going to join, if one at all. For me, I needed a more laid back clan, because I can't be on-line all the time. Also, when I wasn't in a clan, I was free to play w/ whoever, and now there is an obligation to play w/ clanmates. It isn't less fun playing w/ them, it's just good to get out and play some people like AMP once and a while.

What Empire Earth clan? I was in the I_LovE clan in EE who apparently were one of the best for the first 3-4 months.

Depends how much commitment you have really, some can be very time consuming. If you only have a little time or don't want to spend every free minute mowing down peasants with lancers just find a few like-minded people who you play with when you get the chance. Then you get to know their style and stuff.

If you want to be respected as a player and community member:

Be honorable in your play, and in what you say and how you say it. Be a good sport, be courteous, help new players learn by answering questions and making useful suggestions--in the game foyers and on the forums.

Play often and improve your skills. Play with a wide variety of people, including members from different clans. Ask questions about improving your gameplay, listen to those who have experience, and try what they suggest. Some aspects of play are a matter of taste or style; others are just plain common (and sometimes not so common) sense.

Being respected as a player has nothing to do with being in a clan. A clan can add prestige, but only you can earn respect.

Sometimes, if you are perceived as a good player who strives to improve, and a helpful, friendly person in the foyer and on the forums, clans will approach you and ask you if you would like to join them. It doesn't happen very often, but it does happen. I know of one clan that expands its membership by invitation only in this way.

If you decide to pursue a clan, evaluate the ones that seem interesting to you--before you submit a request to join one. Clans don't like to see someone apply at several clans at the same time. They prefer that you've done your homework, and have decided that you want to join THEIR clan, not just any clan.

Ask about clan rules before you join. Some will place restrictions on your gameplay--like no competitive games allowed, or no use of alias names online, etc.

Good luck in earning respect and finding a clan that suits you.

It depends a clan takes alot of dedication and so time yet you get all that back in more fun i find :) when you get to play in cwc and cwb tournys with all ya clan mates and improving yourself with your help and the other way round to you also becoming a better player in many ways.

YET THE DECISIONS UP TO YOU IF YOU DONT HAVE THE TIME DONT WORRY AND EVERYONE CAN STILL GET RESPECT AS A RONIN BUT U GOTTA BE GOOD :)

I am a member of the Aquila Clan and I have discovered that it is completely worth it. When I first started playing, about a month ago, my friends, who introduced me to the game, where members of Aquila and got me in. I have been training with members of Aquila and fighting along side them and they have made all the difference. It is really great to have a place to go, the Aquila Forums, and just talk about strategies and such. The fact that I joined a clan has made all the difference. It has made it so that people even want to play with me. It has given me better training than I would have gotten with the tuitorials and has given me friends to play with. I have gotten so that I usually only play with members of other Clans because then I know that they are worth my time. I think that if you are not in a clan that you should join one. I recommend that you come to Aquila and tell them that Consul sent you. (Note: I am the moderator of the Recruitment Forum, thus you have to have the joy of working with me to join.) Thanks

Consul
