I've just tried to use multiplayer for MTW for the first time. I am, frankly, astonsihed. Gamespy seems to do everything in its power to prevent one actually playing games. After three attempts to create an acount (because the software appears to have keeled over or forgotten where it'd got to in the process), it finally told me I was registered, so I went in search of MTW games... and after page after page after painfully slowly loading page never got any closer to being able to play a game.

So I uninstalled Gamespy, and tried via the in-game option. OK, Gamspy still recognised me from where I'd just registered. Then I get a completely unecessary web page, get rid of that, and... nada. Nothing. A whole flipping HOUR just trying to get to where I MIGHT be able to play a game multiplayer that is already installed on my system. And I thought some of the MMOL flight sims were clunky

I'd rather go to the dentists than go through that again - so here endeth my multiplayer career, nipped in the bud before properly begun, I'm afraid. If anyone knows an email address one can complain to about the dreadful multiplayer system, I;d be delighted to hear of it. It;ll be days before I feel like going near Gamespy to try to locate one myself.

Oh, and that probably puts paid to my buying VI. I'll just wait for Rome to come out.

Well, if you are already registered, as you say it told you, it should not be a problem. I'm intrigued with that web-page from ingame menu you are talking about.

You should open, from game: multiplayer, then top option, play via game spy, fill in your details along with cd-key, then press continue.

Did that. Took me to the same never-ending loop of Gamespy webpages that the Gamespy software did. Useless.

Well, if Activision want people to buy new games rather than waiting for them to get reduced in price or bought second-hand, putting them out with such a wretched multiplayer method is NOT the way to go about it. I'm honestly apalled by it.

I'm sorry to hear about your nightmare experience Esme. In the event you have the energy to try this again, I'm going to move this to the Apothecary. You should get some good advice there.
