as it was explained before by the developers but could someone tell me again under what circumstances the replay file dont show the actual battle but "generates his own replay"....?
Yeah, could someone explain that weird thing in simple language?

So far, out of the 100 battles I have recorded, only 1 didnt show right (a 1v1). And my settings are different from the host at times, like I disable the birdie but when I replay I think I see the birds (probably the host has it enabled)? Gotta check 1st though..
I think not many are having problem with the battlecorder?
I think the replay will fail on single player battles where there are off screen reinforcements. Howerever, I was able to play back an online castle battle successfully where units came on from off screen. I have had one or two regular online battles not play back correctly. This could be due to a corruption of the replay file. All it would take is a single wrong command or one man not dying when he should or dying when he should not and the battle will deviate from the original after that. Also, the seed number for the random number generator in the replay has to be the same as what was originally used in the battle. That number has to be stored in the replay.dat file, but, if the wrong number gets in there somehow, the battle will start out ok, but as combat begins it will start to deviate from the original and eventually become nonsense.

Kraellin, you don't now how to use the battle recorder? http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif
tootee,
All the settings for the battle are stored in the replay.dat. That info is coming to you from the host. So, it doesn't matter what your options are set to when you playback the battle.

that's why I still see birdies even when I disable them, no wonder. Magy you having problem replaying correctly?

i once remember an upsetted Gazoz who beated my Khan and a newbee in a 2 vs 2 but on his replay file gazoz had lost, the khan had won. When our Khan played the logfile send by gazoz khan had won as well.
in the game the khan is refferring now he lost 3 musket units, while in the game he rallied them.
it was explained by longjohn how this could have happend. can we recall that post somehow?
i've recorded i few battles,with no probs.
Would be interesting in seeing LittleJohns answer to this too?

I remember about the seed thingy for the random generator, and other stuffs. I wonder underwhat circumstances will these be logged wrongly.. seems to me its quite impossible, unless its a bug in the program that was triggered when certain sequence of events happened.. surely the hdisk r/w is not the cause?
Do all the players in a game have the same replay.dat (no drop or esc halfway)?

If you drop or esc it would have a serious outcome on the record. The dropped players army might do some strange things.
I dunno.
