View Full Version : Problems with game
OK, ive always had problems with MTW VI. Ive reinstalled it about 5 times. I reinstalled it this time because all maps said version conflict. But when i tried to run it, it said unidentified faction EGYPTIANS http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-help.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-help.gif
Can you please move this post Gregoshi to the help center? I cannot post there.

Hello Hiji.
I guess the obvious question is do you have any mods installed? On the re-installs, did you completely wipe the game folders? It almost seems like something is hanging around after an uninstall and messing up the install.
Thanks for the response. And yes, i did have all mods uninstalled. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-help.gif

Uninstalling the mod and game may not be enough, though, WMH. Use the explorer to check any folders that the game leaves after totally uninstalling and you may find some suprises, as Gregoshi said.
Have you ever uninstalled a game, then reinstalled it later, and found that your savegames etc. were still there?
Those are files that remain after uninstalling. The same thing happens with MTW sometimes.

uninstall, then deleting of the folder(after possible backup), then reinstalling of vanilla MTW should do the trick... that's clearly a modding remnant, a mod that uninstalled itself unproperly.
Some do advise to keep a clean install & copy it, then mod only the copy folder. I did it with Wes's mod, & also other games(HoI especially). It works wonders, but eats MUCH disk space.
another solution is just to apply the 1.1 patch. I did it when I didn't know the aforementioned trick. It worked well for me.
