I don't know if this has already been asked, but is there any way to make new religions?? If I wanted to make a small nation of frog worshipers, could I make a new religion of the almighty frog. I know how to make new buildings so u can make new worshiping places.

Any answers http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/tongue.gif

to be quite honest, i have on idea.

possibly, in startpos, you can declare a new religion, and create units and buildings for it, but i have no idea if it would work or not.

if you did do it, i don't think it would work with the AI, because AI types are defined using culture and/or religion. so you'd have to play the new religion.

In which case, does anyone know where the file is to change the name of religions. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-inquisitive.gif

You could do a search on the MTW folder for any file containing "Jew" and replace that. Not a very big relegion in MTW. You could then just change the pic and that might work.

I don't know if it is possible create a new religion .. but you can replace one of the religions in the startpos file with JEWISH.

Anyway JEWISH is the same as PAGAN for the AI.

The answer to the question is yes.

You could replace Jewish with another religion, it is very similar to changing the names of factions.

If you know have to rename Spain Castile then you can easily rename Jews Frogmen

Why not just make the Khazar a playable faction with jewish as the religeon instead of changing religeon? http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif

Rename Jews frogmen? I thought that was the French? ;) Seriously, though, the question shouldn't be whether you can rename Religions, but rather if you can actually make a new religion, with religion-specific buildings, units, etc.

i was wondering if this would work:

the name of the religions is in the names.txt file, so if i could make my mod select a different copy of the names.txt i could change the name of the religions without affecting the orignal game. But would it be possible to select a different selection of icons or will i be stuk with the cross/moon etc?

I think this might work. Open medieval_tw in notepad and search for icon_catholic.bif. You get a match a little way down. I suppose this could be changed to whatever you like. I haven't tried it, though.

And if you can't change that, you can always just swap the icon for another of your liking, as long as you give it the same name.
