Best Mod?

Out of all the mods you guys have seen i was hoping to hear some opinions of what you guys feel is the best mod for mtw including vi taking all aspects of the mod into concideration and ill like to get a bit of a list going for me to try some new ones out :P

I would say the most balanced would be MedMod. Great mod and the IMO the best. Next would be Hellenistic:Total War. Great game and accurate units and map, although I was kind of disappointed that ALL armies were almost pure cavalry, including those from southern Greece. I didn't care much for NTW, but that probably had more to do with the fact that I suck with gunpowder only armies. I also have the Fall of Rome mod. I love it, but it's fairly unstable.

IMO the latest Wes Mod. No peasants army,real challange,great new units,new ideas... Only too much infantry AI produces.

I really dont like questions like this one. There are quite a few really great mods. Which one of them is the best, depends pretty much on your personal preferences. HTW, NTW, MedMod, STW,...no ME:TW here, as it isnt finished yet.

Well I've only tried the NTW mod. Its pretty good but I think it has some major problems. Maybe someone can help me?

The battles are way to easy. I am not a great MTW player and battles are still fairly challengeing in MTW to me but in NTW there is no point to fight battles it will be a win no doubt. The enemy infantry just marches around in front of my infantry lines getting themselves shot to peice. Even when they do shoot back at me they barely hit anything. All my battles have been like 250 kills for me versus 20 losses on my own men. 250vs20 thats crazy. At first I thought I was just doing really good but then it became aparent it wasn't my skill. I just lined my men up marched them forward then sat back not even trying to control my army and I would win the battle with crazy kill/death counts.

The enemy marches up very close to my lines, well within range and then fiddles around for a few minutes, by the time they begin to return fire they are routing.

Does this happen to anyone else?

What level of difficulty are you playing it on? Cos on easy the AI usually just marches up to you, I'm not sure if the NTW team have changed AI behaviour in anyway but this may be the problem.

MedMod hands down. AI is actually scary on expert if you play a hard faction (HRE).

Really? When I played NTW I always was lucky to break even(the infantry can't take a cavalry charge that well but will win in melee).

All mods mentioned above are great mods. As has been said before, it depends on what you like. I'm most interested in NTW, METW, and HTW now, for the total conversion mods. Wes's MedMod is a great tweaking of the original game.

HTW has what no other mod has, chariots Of many flavors, too Not to mention ancient Greek warfare :D

NTW has movable cannons and all sorts of awesome stuff, and I hear that the modders are working on the AI.

METW is Lord of the Rings, total war style. Need I say more? (though it isn't complete yet.)

There are lots of high-quality mods out there, all you have to do is look; for loads of info on modding & mods, go the the active Dungeon forum. It makes me sad when I realize that I won't have nearly enough time to play enough of them nearly as much as I would like. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/frown.gif

barocca's STWmod, and wes' medmod3.14, the only 2 i have played through a campaign so far...these 2 i think are great, kudos...i'm gonna look through a couple more i downloaded in the days to come and play, havent had enough time to do so yet, all looks good to me though...

Well depnding on what version you are playing we have altered the AI to improve battles recently and the latest public offering ios version 2.09 so if you are playing earlier versions try this one, also anyone who knows MTW's AI , will tell you its notoriuosly sucky, so playing on Expert is a best bet to improve things, NTW in its current version is most challenging and I would challenge you to try and get through a campiagn on expert just trying to mangae finacially along with the military aspect, you may be surprised it is not a pushover, alos it is stated this is a beta and we are working to improve things daily, I suggest you browse our NTW forums and see the many people who are enjoying the Mod, and trade your thoughts with them and pose your questions to the Lordz directly...LOS

hmm interesting ill have to try some of them and to who ever asked cant remember who im into kinda japanese type battle :P for some unknown reason guys you got any more info on these mods and any more mods to add to the list.
And could anyone tell me of any mods that are up and coming in the future that i could look forwards too?

I found out its june the 11th in USA but someone said they delayed it and cant find time in England, you guys know of any more mods that i could test plz, hmmm still cant make up my mind which one i thinks the best you guys got any thing to say on why some are better then others???
