What are some good horse skirmishers

I posted this several months ago. Boyars clearly the toughest fighters, but Faris and Szeks also do quite well.

Boyars are my favorite followed by Szeks. I like Mamluk's too, although they're not as good as Faris (charge bonus I mean)

Nobody said steppe heavies

They are far superior to most other skirmishing cavs -- they are better than szekely at melee. And they are available to any faction. They kick butt AND shoot arrows. Plus, anybody can get them. So, you have to fight a few Mongols . . .

The problem with faris is that only the Almos and Eg can get them. They do not have enough good units in late to be a real skirmisher. They really have to be the line cavalry that happens to shoot arrows.

The nicest thing about szekelys are that they are available fast. But if I were choosing a cav in for a late era army, it'd be SHC. They are like chocolate covered pizza.

Steppe heavy cavarly and jnettes are all I can think of, and steppes are limited to the plains. If you have a naval empire hats not a problem, and they are great unitsa, beat byz cav man for man, line up neater than most horse skirmishers and arn;t to heavily armoured meaning they can still fight in the desert. The armour they do have means they excelle in archery duesl with other horse skirmishers.

If you really can't get to khazar, kiev or any provinces north of their then stick with jinettes and get a height advantage to offsetr the short range.

steppe heavies or the boyars are likely the best HA units around and can pawn most units in early.

if you can assasinate the khan, you can also bribe some GH HA which rock.

In MedMod, szekelys become really good though.
