What's That When I click my Avatar

I randomly clicked my avatar - work is slow today - and noticed that where I used to have just white space now I have a knight. I did a little checking and found that virtually everybody has the same thing, except for Tosa and Scipio who have an assasin looking fellow and a Roman horseman respectively.

Is this a new feature that I've completely missed and is it possible to change the person you get when you click?
