Hi

In many interviews we have read that the human player can attack Rome in order to become imperator and to win the imperial campaign.

What do you think, should the AI make the same action? For example after a period of time and the human player hasn´t attacked Rome, then one of the computer controlled roman factions make the first move. Now the human player has to defend the senate. If he is not able to rescue rome, then the campaign ends with a defeat for him.

And what if he is able to rescue rome? Is then the roman faction which have attacked only another enemy on the map and ready to be conquered by the human player and the third roman faction?

Or should the attack of Rome only be allowed to the human player?

Many questions and hopefully some answers http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

I hope it will be like that, but that the game isn't over after Rome has been taken, which will give you a chance to retake Rome and give it back to the Senate or take the chance to become Imperator yourself and keep Rome.

My understanding from the interviews and the FAQ is that any Roman faction may attack Rome in an attempt to become Imperator or prevent another faction from staying Imperator.

I have no problem with this because it adds another level of challenge to the game.

Not only do you have to try stay ahead of the other factions in prestige but you also have to watch out for another faction launching a takeover bid.

So that leaves a couple of options to become Imperator.

First, of course, if one Roman faction is far enough ahead in prestige at some point the Senate may proclaim them Imperator. If the Senate declares one faction the winner then the other two factions are basically given the choice to accept the Senate's decision or declare war against the Senate and its chosen champion.

Second, one Roman faction may decide to try a military takeover. They proclaim themselves Imperator and automatically declare war on any Roman faction, including the Senate, that chooses not to accept their claim.

Third, only one Roman faction remains. The other two being destroyed by hostile "barbarians" or hostile Roman factions. I am not sure if there is any "unbeatable" penalties imposed on attacking a fellow Roman faction besides a loss of prestige.

Since the Senate, and Rome itself, is considered a fourth neutral faction, this opens up the chance for some really messy two, three, or maybe even four sided civil wars.

Of course maybe my memory is fuzzy and these options were part of my reoccuring dreams about RTW.

Memo to self: Let therapist know about increasing obsession with RTW.
