View Full Version : catapults
when playing yesterday I had a battle where I had three catapults. When they started firing two of them fired balls that had a flame and a black smoke trail. I have played since the game came out and have never seen this before. Are they supposed to be like this, I have always had a plain old rock ball.
This can happen when sieging a castle, or the enemy is near a town. It has happened unexpectlty to me though, i think its a bug. And im just curious, how many kills did the 3 cata get? My record is 216 with 2 catapults.

You can also see the same thing happen when besieging a fort type castle all non-gunpowder artillery will shoot flaming misiles at stockades and palisades. Archers will do that too. It's a feature, not a bug.

Never heard of this before... http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif
yeah, archers and missiles including siege would have flaming shots in a siege as I believe.
My record for a catapult is 157 kills with 1 catapult.
This was during GH invasion of kiev where there were just furballs of enemy for the bouncing shot to hit.

IIRC, the pyrotechnics feature came with VI. Under the options menu there's a pyro slider bar to increase/decrease the effects you see.
you get the flaming trails on arrows and boulders if you target a structure iirc.
Oh and only with VI installed of course.
Ive had it happen when theres no citys or castles, that part is a bug

Maybe you targeted a farmhouse or church by mistake, it's happened to me plenty of times. But even if it is a bug, it's a pretty one.
