Playing as the Aragonese last night i took over a province off the almohods, the port was destroyed as usual but the next level shipyard was still there. As I had no over provinces to build ships I thought i'd use the opportunity to start my fleet. A couple of turns later + i have 2 ships built and then the next turn the building vanished which annoyed me quite a bit as i was then unable to build ships for quite a few turns http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/angry.gif

Also i was wondering can you launch an attack against an ally from the sea because I'm also unable to attack a few provinces by sea and i have an unbroken line of ships to that province - i also have a port from where i want to leave from as well.

The missing building I don't know about.

As for naval invasions, that one is easy - you can't launch a naval invasion against any province if the owner has ships in the ocean area touching the province.

are u sure you didn't spacebar past the events at the beginning of the turn? A flood or earthquake may have hit the province and destroyed your building.

Allied or neutral ships won't allow an invasion force to pass thru the sea they occupy.

That is, allied to the target of the invasion.

Thanks for clearing that bit up for me. I was wondering why i couldn't get to quite a few provinces but could get to ones even further away.

I still wish i knew where my shipyard went http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif

edit:
motorhead: I didn;t space an event - learnt to read the messages at the end of each turns because I lost my leader once to old age and I didn't know where he'd gone because i had skipped the parchement.

did you press 'c' button cos if you did that'll be one of the reasons your building vanished

I'm pretty sure i didn't press the C button, I don't use the keyboard - except in battles where i need to group my forces and when i check the loyalty in my provinces with the shift key.

Would someone explain why pressing the c button would make one of my buildings disappear?

Well, unless the building was the castle on the campaign map, it wouldn't. And even if it was, C just hides it. It's one of three keys set to filter out what shows up on the campaign map so you can see what the heck is going on.

C hides or shows castles. Z toggles between showing only armies, only strategic agents, and showing both. X toggles between showing you units/agents, enemies, and both.

Or in short, C didn't make your shipyard go away.

Yeah i found that out since earlier, was at work earlier so couldn't check.

I think M:TW is playing up on my laptop now anyway. It crashes when i press the esc key. Oh well will have to play it on my main PC from now on http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/frown.gif

isn't it funny how almost always the port gets destroyed and you are left with the shipyard and can make ships?
how do they launch the ships? push em over the castle walls? funny if it it doesn't flip over.

what really bites was my Egyptian game where a single flood took out my master spear, dockyard, and horsebreeder guild. No more kwarzies or baggalas for a while http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/angry.gif
