i'd ask if they would take advice from the 'improve this or that' threads on the org...and they would make or mod some expansions for MTW and STW, and make them available to buy or download...although i would find this very unlikely
how do you get these interviews? Good publicity for a site... http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

Is the recent rumour about having to play the Roman Campaign first true?
if so is it 100% a final dessision?
its just that "Unlockable" features are only good in racing games.
We the community REALY dont like this idea at all.
I hope the cortine of silence will be shattered http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

I'd like to know if they are taking on board people's concerns about the representation of the Barbarian factions and Ptolemaic Egypt in the game.
In addition I would like to know how civil wars will work. (eg, if you assassinate the ringleader, will the remaining rebels unite behind you?)

Ouch... had not heard about that one.
So you would have to play as one of the Roman factions before you can play one of the non-Roman factions?
I do not think this is feasible. How many times have any of us actually finished an MTW campaign?
I suspect that this is not something CA actually plans to do.
The big question I have is about armies and control...
Can you have more than twenty units in one "stack" on the strategic map?
In battle are these over twenty units placed into a reinforcements que?
Are the additional units split off into an AI controlled allied army on the tactical map?
Or do AI controlled over twenty units occur when you attack an enemy from more than one direction with more than one "stack" on the strategic map?
Another question is about the turn-based portion of the game...
Do the factions take turns in a set sequence or is it randomized each end turn?
If your territory is invaded do you have the opportunity for a counter move? In essence when your territory is invaded does this halt the turn and allow your units to react, if they have movement points left?
Will we or the AI be able to sneak? Basically move an army into your territory unobserved? This would require a more thorough deployment of "watchtowers" and open the way for "Pearl Harbor" style assaults on enemy cities.

According to Mike Simpson, directer of development at CA, that's exactly what they are doing. I read it in a PC gamer. it said that at first you will only be able to play as one of the Roman factions, but after you finish a campaign then 8 others will be "unlocked". They havn't decided on exactly which will be "unlocked" yet though.
As a US PC Gamer is the only time we have ever heard this, we would like a confirmation or a denial so we can be sure exactly what is true.

If true - this is gamey B**L S**T at it's worst. What the hell are we 14 year olds?
If I wanted X-box action I'll go buy onehttp://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/rolleyes.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/rolleyes.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/rolleyes.gif
Ok - calmer now. And - upon reflection - this sounds like PC mag BS. Just like the game coming out in 2005 or CA bundling M:TW/VI w/ R:TW.
Just silly BS that these game rags spew out there. You get more facts in the National Enquirer.

Question-Seriously, do people actually buy that magazine in the US? My local newsagent stocks it, and it is perhaps the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen. How does it not go under? http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif
GAH
1) Can youz stack strategic units?
2) How far east does map go? Does it reach, say, Khyber pass?
3) How far south does map go? Does it reach present Sudan? What about Chad? (Is it dimpled or pregnant?)
4) Can youz play as the Picts?
5) Can Rome invade Sweden and subjugate Sven, Inga and Hildegaarde?
6) Can Rome invade Amerika?
7) Can youz play as the Jews and raise heck in the holey land?
8) Can elephants swim?
9) Will Roman Legionaires become the new Warrior Monk or uber-CMAA?
10) Are there any sanda boma units? What about GUNS? Culvies?

Damn, I hope this is NOT true What is this? Rome Total War or Warcraft IV: The Linear Campaigns of Rome? If I wanted this type of linear campaign progression I would be playing Blizzard's Starcraft and Warcraft games until my mind melted into a puddle of pubescent goo. Something tells me when RTW is released the jubilant TW community will soon be up in arms over this design decision and will demand that CA unlock all the factions by default via a patch or through some line command codes needed for the ini files. Can you imagine how frustrating it will be if you clear the necessary number of campaigns needed to unlock all the factions only to have a critical data file get corrupted or deleted, thus forcing you to reinstall the game and do it all over again?
I also guarantee that this locked faction feature is not going to go over well with the gaming press. It's one thing to force someone to play through a series of missions, each of which can last anywhere from a few minutes to an hour or so and another thing entirely to force someone to play through several, if not dozens of hours of strategic gameplay (where they MUST emerge victorious) just so they can unlock their favorite faction of the ancient world.
This seems like such a ridiculously illogical and user unfriendly design decision that I am going to give CA the benefit of the doubt and say this is the result of flubbed journalism and the so called 'locked faction' feature only applies to the historical campaigns (i.e. Spartacus' Slave Revolt, Caesar's conquest of Gaul, etc.) and does not apply to the Grand Campaign game which would allow us to play whichever faction we choose through the entire period represented in the game. This would keep in tradition with the way the historical battle campaigns were modeled in MTW.

Actually, i don't buy it, i get it free. I signed up for something (can't remember now but that ended) and they promised a two year subscription to pc gamer or the mag of my choice, and it was the only decent thing offered so i took it, not like it's done any good reading it though http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-book2.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/rolleyes.gif

No, but i could probably get one, it'd be more interesting and *cough* truthful than any thing i've read in pcg. Strangly enough, in almost the same paragraph the pcg staff says that TC may come to the US. It's my prediction that it will be a cold day in hell before that happens
Still the question was razed now it needs to be killed. It wouldn't hurt to ask the CA team just to be sure right? http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-help.gif
