View Full Version : Newbie MP questions
Howdy,
I want to hook up my two computers and have a M:TW scrap with my buddy.
Do I need two copies of the game?
Can you play a campaign or just battles?
When you battle, is the set up the same as against the AI?
If you campaign, do you take turns? You, then him, then ther AI that controls everything else?
...and thousands of other questions.
Thanks. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif

1. Its only battles
2. its exactly like a "custom battle" from the main menu.
3. you need 2 copies
Two copies, bummer.
But thanks for the info.

No problem.
You do not need two copies. I have my copy installed on two computers and me and my friend LAN all the time.
Yep no need for 2 copies. Cd-key checks is for online playing only.

I believe the first point in the forum rules already discusses no cd cracks thoroughly , i.e. they know that it's legal if you own the original cd but it is open to abuse.
Cheers

What we do with our genuine versions of the game, in the privacy of our homes, doesn't concern me in the slightest... but let's not publicly praise something that would most commenly be used to steal the price of the game from CA...

No kidding? You start up then remove the CD, place it machine no.2, then he starts up, joins in and that works?
Cool. I like that. Honestly I don't see why we shoukld need tow copies, we're going to be about five feet from each other. This sounds very reasobale.
For my part, I would like to have the no-CD crack, but I fully understand that it is not allowed to be discussed here. ( http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-oops.gif , I just discussed it. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-embarassed.gif )

LAN games can be great fun-- just remember to face your computers away from eachother so you can still use the element of suprise. Plus it makes face-to-face smack talking easier :)
No rules against such topics at the twn--

maybe swoosh or someone could start a topic over there-- I for one am interested.

there are also legitimate programs that you can purchase that allow you play games and run apps without the cd. they create 'images' of the cd and store them on yer hd, handy for laptop users.
anyhoo, the playing against dad reminded me of when i was a wee little one and beating pops on the atari in a game of football or maybe it was baseball... i was woopin him good, and talking smack, so he reaches over and punches me in the arm... it went numb and i dropped the controler... he laughs and says, i can still beat ya in real life boy, don't forget it...

I used to play my old man at Magic: The Gathering. I don't think he really understood. Can't blame him, the rules were bloody complicated.
