Visit some of the sites like The Shogun Academy. Or try the tutorials with the game.
The other way to sort it out is simply to practice and practice until you can get it right.

No i'm not the Messiah
Only the true Messiah would deny it.
Alright then I am the Messiah.

thnx for the advice neb , will look into it .
The most important thing to know is how to group units. If you can do that, maneuver is just a matter of practice.

There are two ways of grouping:
Ctl/Alt (no) - allows you to store certain groups for quick selection later using Ctl (no) - i usually do this in the setup period - eg: missiles, glory boys and cavalry detachments.
Group button, or 'g' : This one took me a while to find out but is vital - use this to manouver formations - this can be your whole army (use Alt 'a' to select all), or smaller groups like those you set up using the above method. Anyway, by grouping selected units, you'll notice that their icons move together, you can then Alt 'right-click' them, to change their facings, and the selected units will wheel in formation, as opposed to the nightmare that happens if they're not grouped and you try this. Always remember to ungroup them after you've ordered a manouver, however, otherwise you're likely to get into all sorts of problems later on.

Sun Tzu says "The pinnacle of military strategy approaches the formless."
So... strive not to move gracefully and in 'single file'. Instead, attack chaotically -- in a mob. A lynch mob knows no form... knows no discipline... is oblivious to the danger the enemy poses... they feed off each other's hyperactive 'crowd syndrome' calls for destruction.
Just select all your units and double click on the enemy taisho. Then, don't touch anything else. Just watch your men turn into a lynch mob and chase the yellow enemies right off the map! Even when the enemy expects this, there is little they can do but make sure they get off the field alive... that is why you see the general is usually the fastest unit -- and the first off the map!
And make sure you put your whole army in wedgies... it 'incites' them more to kill, kill, kill... http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/tongue.gif
