Hi guys

First of all I would like to say thx to everybody who helped
me getting online or proposed to do so.
I had some problems loggin in. I finally did it but the problem
remains a mystery, like so many times with PC's. Gah
It was also my first time in a chat room Quite astounding since I'm online for almost 10 years.
I guess people will have realized that I sometimes missed it when they chatted with me... http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif No offense intended

My first game was 1vs1 - I was utterly destroyed
2. game 2vs.2 - we won
3. game 1vs1 - those damn muskets destroyed me
4. game 3vs3 - technical probs, couldn't choose nothing but rain, my allies routed, had my sound still on

What a night I just couldn't stop grinning after the first battle. I had to lol when my army routed. This hasn't happened to me in years against the AI. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-jester.gif

What I observed is that you obviously need muskets.
No way to not bring them. When the armies line up and the
enemy shoots you there seems to be no possibility of
countering accept with muskets.
Doesn't this end always the same?
Muskets shooting muskets and after that the real battle begins?
Need some strategy advice or experience report here.
Cheers

P.S: My online nick is Itto Nakamura

Welcome http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif

Muskets are indeed necassary but I think you'll find that there is more than just lining them up and shooting...samurai and cavalry archers are useful as well especially on the maps with some hills and there are lots of little things that make the range war more complex than it first appears.

Hi Shinano
Yeah, guess you're right about the muskets.
The thing is that I tried to avoid them in SP Campaign.
AI doesn't know how to use them anyway, so why bother
using them at all. In SP I would always choose the SAmArcher
above the firearms (being a conservative Daimyo, i guess).

Anyway, I wrote this prior to my second evening and am now closer to understanding the battle routines.

I just have to repeat how much Fun it is.
I'm still pressing "P" during battle like a maniac. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
Stop it. Hold it. Will you come back. Retreat you idiots...
don't you see you're getting shot Gah What's that smell?
Is it muskets? Can I smell the smoke in MP?
An Ashigaru approaching: "Escuse me, my Lord...?"
Me:"What the hell is it, don't you f*+#ing see I'm busy?"
"Escuse me, my Lord you're just about to set your desk on fire"
Me:" What the...forgot my cigarette...Damn...Where did those
Ninjas come from..? http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-wall.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/ht_surrender.gif

Indeed m8, glad to have you aboard. Thanks for the games. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-smile.gif

L&LOL ... I just started playing STW online last September, and remember well the constant, frantic, futile, pressing of the PAUSE key for the first week or two of battling. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-computer.gif

Furthermore, I didn't get my entire deposit back when I moved recently because of a few ciggie burns in the carpet where my desk and PC were. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-blush.gif

Welcome to the STW online community--a small but fun and friendly collection of people, and a fabulous multiplayer game. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-2thumbsup.gif
