What do I need for Fanatics?

you can always combine your general's unit with other depleted units of fanatics; that way your general can be used in combat provided his unit has plenty of troops.

that's a first. Never had a unit of fanatics with as far as 1 star general, 5 seems over the top.

I find it actually quite funny to toy around
with the unit comparison tool.
Try using v4 Fanatics against some v0 defense units

he started at 2, one the crusdae became a 3. gave him title of serbia came a 4, then gained a vech higly educated and gave him his 5th.

you can mod them in or combine with other units to fill it up.

5 star fanatic general is at least better than me having a 5 star catapult general once. LMAO, he was actually my best general for a while.

Peronally I get sick of crappy units being great geenrals. In my french early/expert/GA game I have two excelent generals.

7 and 6 stars, scant mercy in one, no mercy in the other, ones a great warrior, the other is brave beyond belief, they are both truly pious (each commanded a crusade) and are both landowners for trade provinces with high acumen, mostly natural but some from virtues.

Unfortunately, they are BOTH urban milita What use is that???

^Maybe you trained the heroes that France gets at the beginning. I always make FMAA in Anjou for them.

I modded fanatics to be doable with a simple church(thank you, gnome editor). Their maintenance costs, though, make them uninteresting. Would solve your dilemma, though...
