he's called william wallays though. apparently an alternate spelling.

Try to incite a rebellion there and bribe him. Considering it's Scotland, a rebellion shouldn't be too hard. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/bigthumb.gif

lol I think Scotland should be its own faction with him when he emerges. would be pretty cool.

not nearly accurate but close.

He's a 7 star general. He's holding Scotland in my current campaign, but my economy is suffering badly so I'll have to wait with the bribe. He emerged in the early 14th century in my game. In the end I may just kill him instead.

From the default heroes file.

"William","Walays",1272, 5, 4, 3, 2, 7, fearsome3, GENERAL, ID_SCOTLAND, -1 //Mel Gibson

Basically it means he appears as a Rebel general 16 years after 1272 in Scotland, cause 1272 is the year of his birth and not he year he appears.

The numbers following 1272 are his command, dread, piety, acumen and loyalty. So starting from zero, he is a 6 gen. Add the title king of scotland makes him a 7 start general.

Hmm, he usually pops up in the 1290s for me...I always like to colonize and snag rebel provinces, even if they are on the other side of the map. (I usually try to take Sweden & Norway - even if I'm the Turks, and also Ireland & Scotland if I'm Catholic for the Gallows and Clansmen...)
