I'm in the midst of my first campaign (Brit's, early; I own about 35% of the map now), and looking forward to completing it. I've also just got a copy of VI, and am looking forward to installing it, but thought I remembered someone saying that installation would erase any campaigns in progress. Now, I can't find that thread. Did I imagine it? I'd like the added perks, but not at the expense of my progress to-date

IS this true?

it wouldn't actually erase it but you can't play it in VI. so finish up if you must and then install VI. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/bigthumb.gif

If I recall correctly, the VI install puts up a warning window at the start of the install about the incompatibility of the game saves and replays. If you have the disk space, copy the MTW folder (or reinstall MTW) to another folder name. Then you can install VI over top of the original folder to get VI or use the copied folder to run MTW to complete your current campaign. Once you finish that campaign you can then delete the copied folder.

yeah, it does, the warning window says it all...starting from VI would be better anyway i suppose, its a great expansion

Don't forget to patch up VI to v2.01 to fix the all kings die at 56 bug.
