View Full Version : Would anyone be interested in...

I'm hesitant to post this as it's my first post and I don't want to post something inappropriate, but I thought I'd ask.
Would anyone be interested in participating in a playtest of an online game based in the Sengoku Jidai (the same period as STW) ? It's entirely non-profit, so I'm not trying to sell anything here http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
I'm a longtime STW player (tried and failed to pick up a copy of MTW over Christmas), and the game is similar in many ways to the strategy stage of STW, with a heavy dose of Diplomacy thrown in. It's entirely online and we already have 6 players, but looking to add more for the alpha testing phase.
I thought it might appeal to any STW and samurai history fans as I've written it with a heavy historical bent (and correcting some of the inaccuracies of STW).
I won't post the URL here until I'm sure it's ok to do so.
To the admins - if this is isn't something I should be posting here, please do delete it (I believe I can't delete my own posts yet?), I don't want to annoy anyone.

http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif Greetings Naomasa Thanks for bringing your proposal here. I don't see any problem with your request. As you might guess, there are quite a few people here who are very interested in the topic - go figure. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif
Go ahead and post a link. I will also post links to this thread in the Sword Dojo (STW) and Arena (non-TW games) forums.
Pinned the topic for a few days.

Hi Naomasa
I would participate. I'm a long time STW player myself and have a decent knowladge about sengoku. I played sengoku, a pen and paper roleplaying game, even got the book.

Hi all
Thanks for the interest The forum is here:

And the link to a test version of the game is here:

You can log in as takeda with the password takeda. Don't worry about changing orders and whatnot, it's not a live version. The real version now has 9 players and we've got room for about 6-7 more. Bear in mind we're only in the alpha test stage at the moment so it could be a bit buggy and features will be added and altered as we go.
I would highly recommend a healthy interest and knowledge of the Sengoku Jidai :)
You'll notice as well that the map layout is slightly different from STWs - the provinces are more correct (well, except for the fact that I've swapped Shimosa and Kazusa round by mistake http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif ).
The game rules and signup info are in the Announcements thread there. Please let me know what you think

We've reached the limit on players for the alpha test now - thanks to everyone who applied
We should reach beta very soon though, and when we do I'll open up more games so more people can participate. I'll let everyone know when that happens. Subject to how well the game engine works, I could also reconfigure it for other eras (Europe, Middle Earth etc.), if that's of interest as well.

We've had more players than we could handle for a single game so I'm going to open up a second game if there's enough interest. All are welcome We need 8-10 to make it viable.
You can also now log in to the main game as guest and guest to see how it's playing out if you want to spectate.
Thanks to all
