how many arrows?

if you have an archer unitn how is it worked out how many arrows they have available?

is it that every individual has a set amount?

or

is it the whole unit that has a set amount of arrows?
(surely in real life you would take arrows from your fellow soldiers that have been incapacitated?)

same for guns i guess but you rarely run out of bullets so doesn't matter as much http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

SA/CA have 28 volleys ie. 28 arrows every men

Musks have 20 bullets each but they're slow to reload, so they take longer to get out of ammo. Arques have 15...but their reload is even slower.

The unit starts with 28 arrows/man. A 60 man unit has 1680 arrows, and unused arrows are available to any men left in the unit. Guns work the same way which is part of the reason they never run out of ammo despite only having 20 rounds/man. The other reason is that, in 3 ranks, only 1/3 of the rounds remaining are being fired each volley.

LOL it seemed like that had 10000000000 bullets to me. I only onced runned out of bullets defending a bridge on expert lol.

so then if your not going to fight h2h with your archer it doesn't matter how many men from that unit die as long as you still shoot all your arrows http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

you can have 30 men left or 60 men left but they will still of caused the same damage? just slower?

Yes. So, rally that archer with 10 men left if he still has arrows. Rally him anyway because that 10 man unit even with no arrows radiates a -8 morale penalty on any enemy unit within 1.8 tiles, supports friendly units in front of it with a +2 morale, can cover the flank of a friendly unit and might even get into position to cause a -2 morale flanking penalty on an enemy unit.
