Please excuse me if this has been posted before.
I have just bought Medieval Total War with the Vikings Invasion expansion pack.

My problem is that the game will not start when I click on the icon on my desk top or if I select it in my programs.

I have tried just loading MTW on it's own. I disable anti virus both when installing and when trying to start. My Pc more than meets the spec. required and I have loaded the latest drivers for both my sound and graphics card (my spec should come up in my signature).
I have all the latest updates for XP. I have gone through most of the help sections and tried most things (hardware acc. max.>sound acc.basic>XP compatibility to 98se) and still it won't start.

Curiously I had the same problem with another game (Warrior Kings Battles), which was resolved by the tech support sending an additional exe. patch.

Anyone have any ideas? http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-help.gif

It should start automatically when you put the cd in the drawer, then select play from the menu.
Sometimes a uninstall then reinstall cures problems. Activision support has intructions on this.

have you tried to browse into the total war installation directory and looked to see if anything was amiss?

it should be total war\medieval total war\blah blah medieval.exe and buncha folders.

if you have different structure, then uninstall and reinstall

http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif Hello millerr. Welcome to the world of TotalWar...eh, once you get the game going, that is.

I assume the install ran without problems? Since you've gotten the Battlechest, have you checked out the README file? Since the BC just came out, it might have some information in there regarding your particular problem.

Lastly, I'm moving this to the Apothecary forum. You can reply to any questions (like mine) that are asked of you in that forum.
