In my new mod, i wanted more than the 8 Viking ones. So i decided to use the normal startpos as a base. But i have a problem with the pope. I want to either to remove him from the mod all together or to get rid of his excom and re-appearence tricks. I came up with two plans:

1) Change his behaviour from pope

- does not work. he just acts different.

2) delete everything to do with the pope

- seems like the information is programmed into faction 18

So i think i've got to some how make the computer relize that the faction 18 exists but doesnt put him in the game or make him re-appear

Has any one got any plans?

cheers

I have an idea but I don't know if it will work.

Try putting the pope in Cyprus or something and give him no money and mod it so he can't build ports or ships. It should isolate him at least. Just make sure there is no rebellion rating and start him with watch_towers2 and maybe all the religous building for loyalty. Also remember to change Cyprus's religion to Catholic.

Might work

I was reading some posts on this the other day. The general concensus that I came across is that the pope is hard-coded and cannot be removed completely, you can, however like you said put him somewhere else.

If you are going to put him on an island I would suggest you destroy all the sea links to the island or eventually someone is gonna attack said island and the re-emergence will begin.

Maybe give him so much troops so he cant build anything and he cant be beaten. That way he wont reappeare either. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-inquisitive.gif
