After many happy hours of playing MTW, I've decided to buy VI. Thing is I've just started a new campaign - will it work with Viking Invasion or are my saved games going to be wiped?

Thanks very much,

Stuart

I believe you get a warning saying just that:
savegames from MTW dont work in MTW:VI.

Oh damn I've spent ages setting up trade routes (for the first time) and it was all for nothing

Guess that means a delay in my purchase of VI. I would hate to lose 100 years of skirmishing with the French on my first game as the English.

buy Vi and you can have more fun destroying the French as the English with new units, trust me, Buy VI as fast as you can, then patch it. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/cheers.gif

I have seen complete unit guide but it is not clear to me if there is a unit that improves the english or french position in the VI expansion pack. Do the added units for the main game have a signifigant impact or are they just run of the mill units with different names?

Buy VI, install it and you wont regret having lost that campaing, no matter how good it was. You'll have way better ones. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/bigthumb.gif

Oh and don't forget to DL the VI patch.

http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif Hello Paranoid Android. You any relation to Marvin the Paranoid Robot from The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy? Regardless, no need to be paranoid here because, yes, they all are staring at you. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

The solution to your existing campaign dilemma is to copy the MTW folder under another name and then install VI on top of the original. Once you finish the old MTW campaign, you can then just delete the copied folder. Of course, this is not a good option if your disk drive space is low.

Some savegames may work, others will crash the game. Just try loading an old savegame, if you're lucky, it will still work, although some of the changes made in VI could result in strange effects to your existing units.
Oh, and don't forget to install the VI patch too, otherwise all faction leaders will die the turn after they became 56.
