Hi,
In my current campaign as the Turks, I am at war with half of the map and trying to defend from the Horde. My main worry is to reach a peace agreement with my powerful Byz neighbours, with whom I haven't fought.
Now, I have some ships in the same seas as him, but he accepts the ceasefire, however, after the round of messages in the new turn (one of which is the ceasefire) the diplomacy menu still says that we are at war
In fact, it has already happened to me to have him accepting a ceasefire and attacking one of my ships on the same turn http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif
Ah, there has been no war with the Byz on land for several years now and I only captured one of his provinces, whose castle fell some time ago as well.

Help? http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-dizzy2.gif

PS: I know that it would help if I move my ships so that they're not in the same sea squares as his, but still don't get why he accepts and then fights all the same (or is it just the order of the AI's moves doing that?)

It's because he gave the order to attack on the asumption you wouldn't be seeking a cease-fire.

Solution - In any conflict, always eliminate all of the AI's ships.

In that case, does it mean that i will be back to neutral in the following turn if I don't attack him?

Forced ceasefires

You will become neutral with a faction on the following turn if on any given turn you cannot see any military units, provinces or ships and there are no active crusades/jihads targeting any of your provinces.

I'm not sure about their agents though.

Agents don't matter.

Trying to figure this out will drive you crazy. I once had the Germans offer me a ceasefire while their active crusade against me was still several provinces away.

I beat that, the French and the HRE has both been allied to me while having a crusade against me. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/tongue.gif

Attack oohhh no wait forget that crusade, wanna be our ally? http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/joker.gif

And the Pope and I had a funny way once. He was at war with me (he was the aggressor) and refused to allow my crusade. I asked for cease fire, got it and started my crusade. The next turn he attacked me http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-speechless.gif . Then this was repeated 3 times within 30 years. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-smile.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-surprised.gif

i've had an allies crusade reach my province before (my province being the target) and I got a message asking for the peaceful handing over of the province

I havnt been the target of many crusades so i'm not sure if this is typical for all crusades or not...
