1st stupid question

Sorry about starting a topic with such title,but i really need help...

I never played MTW multiplayer before and, knowing that it was a gap in my cultural background, decided to end this situation yesterday.

I reinstalled MTW,Game Spy and everything,opened an account,logged in,but then when i tried to log on from the MTW main menu,i get the following:

Invalid cd code which is something out of my understanding as i´ve tried to introduce the code at least a dozen times with different combinations(uppercase,lowecase,slashes,dots,...) and the best i get was:

Invalid account details: but when i rewrite the details of my account again, i go back to the Invalid code message... http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-wall.gif

Could someone please post some kind of step by step guide just in case i´m missing something?
Or maybe í need some patch...(stupid suggestion,but thats all i can think of)
Any help will be appreciated...

Hm well first of all check your login details and be sure they are correct.

CD key is to be typed in with caps lock and with dashes. Hit enter when you have typed it in and then clikc continue.

There is a patch for MTW and you need that to play with other people. 1.1 for MTW or 2.01 for Viking expansion(depends what version you have). Both can be found on the offical sitelink (http://www.totalwar.com/community/download.htm)
