Been playing this game for so long now but never experienced thunder. Lightning yes but never thunder. Holy crap, it almost blew me off my chair since I had my sound system on very high level. Amazing game. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/eek.gif

You used to see this much more often in Shogun. A good storm makes the battles much more atmospheric.

I always loved the historic battle in MI where
you use a summer thunderstorm to attack.
It's a very foggy, dark atmosphere enlighted only by occasional lightning. You rush down the wooded hill with ninjas and No-Dachi to kill off the enemy Gen before he can flee.
VI also provides cool weather but due to my poor graphic card I still have to see it with every detail turned on.
Can't wait. Next weekend I'm upgrading from 32MB (imagine) to 128 MB. Should improve things, don't you think?

That's awesome

How did you get the thunder and lightning? How many battles did you play that turn? (ie. is it like the snow event?)

I'd love to have some thunder and lightning...maybe the "ride of the valkyries" in the background too...and huge meteors crashing down from the sky...ok i'll stop dreaming http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wacko.gif

yes, bring on the valks to guide your honourably fallen to the vallahalla (sp?) in a glowing aura like the aroura borealis or something? that would rock.

too bad my video card would probably blow up at just the mentionning of such a thing http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

I´ve had lightning on several times but never thunder. Since I was playing the vikings in VI I could easily think of the god Thor riding in the sky. It was majestic

I haven't experienced thunder yet, but I did play a battle in VI sub-campaign in the Scottish highlands and swear I heard wolves howling - I thought it might have been the wind, but after several such battles I am sure it is not. It was pretty impressive.

that would be great for the ambience.

steep mountain shrouded in dense fog and the wind howls and a blizzard sets in. Once the blizzards clears, lightning strike with rolling thunder revealing a pack of dire wolves ahead howling and then attacking your men.

sure your army got slaughtered but you had fun regardless. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

Katank, you must be some kind of poet or something. Man, talk about setting a spooky ambience.
Simon Appleton, don´t be afraid of the big bad wolf. They are just trying to scare you off their turf. Brr, this is getting scary - come on guys, time for a http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/grouphug.gif

thanks, just some random ideas that poped into my head actually.

again, my graphics card and sound system would probabaly both go poof at such a suggestion, LOL

I would like such improvements in ambience though and I would then spend even more time http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-computer.gif

Hmmm, I can't remember when I heard thunder for the last time… If at all, that is. I certainly hope that R:TW will go even further with the weather effects. Now, when I consider, I have even played the M:TW in a long while, some two months at least, better get down to it this weekend.

BTW, PseRamesses, I'm glad to see that we finally got that sig picture up and running

Well, RTW do comes with night-battles if I´m informed correctly. That "thunder-game" I RP to only have foot soldiers - no archers, no cavs - so I preferably fight during bad weatherconditions thus making the enemies archers worthless. So I´ve played a great deal of stormy battles lately.

The howl is only heard in winter. As to thunder, I experienced it only once. Hmm, not very pleasant, it was 2 am and was half asleep. As I like to have the sounds up high, it was a very .. refreshing sound http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-2thumbsup.gif
