I was playing Byz early with Hard mode. I heard about Avar Nobles but Khazar RC , never had them until recently. Khazar was under Tarhkan rule(hope i spell correctly). In Georgia, my setup army was a trebizond archer unit and Byz Inf. (default). In less than ten years, if have not build my army there, two units of Khazar RC and some unit attack Georgia. I was surprised to c Khazar RC. Another special unit for my collection. How do i get them? Anyone.

In the vanilla game, they are a rebel unit only.

You can mod the game to allow them to be built.

But, they are quite an expensive unit to build and maintain and the byzantines have a decent enough cavalry line up-although the KRC might come in handy later on as catholic knights become more advanced.

In my current game (Poland, Early, Expert) There were three Khazar RC in rebel stacks at the start, including one 4 star general. They were a major pain to me and kept attacking Kiev and taking it whenever I moved my forces elsewhere (almost all rebels in the region had consolidated into one territory and I wasn't able to get rid of them at the time). Eventually I bribed the stack and got one and a half depleted Khazar RC units in the process. I still have them holding Khazar agains the Byzantines in Georgia.

Khazar RC are not as good as avar nobles, can't remember the stats, but I think the avars have more armour and defence.

Um...You tried bribing an army with some in? They're rebels, so it'd be cheap...I've done this once before, good units

Like I said, most of the rebels from neighboring regions had retreated into one territory where they were commanded by a 4 star general. It was a large stack, about 900 total, and the price came out to a little over 7500. When you start the game with 4000 and no economy, that's pretty expensive.

I eventually solved the problem. The general attacked Kiev once with just his KRC unit and one other unit. While they were away from their main stack, the price on the big one dropped to about 2500 and I bribed his army out from behind his back. Then I relieved the siege in Kiev and squashed him with his own men. That army then held Kharkov for me for almost the next 100 years against the Egyptians and later the Byzantines.
