some are old, but all are great.

my favourite, was looking on the white city over the tree tops. I am wondering if it was a city assault or a battle just outside?

There was one that might have depicted the Colossus. Image of a village surrounded by wooden palisade, in the background there was a figure standing on a hill looking out onto the sea.

Anybody else notice?

thanks for the link, as if I couldn't want this game more. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-wall.gif

Heh No problem http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-party2.gif the new ones are the first few I think... I love the strategy map so far. Looks awesome XD

EDIT: Oh and those dogs are from the Barbarian trailer.... although all it shows is the barbs getting pwned by the romans

Well it looks like the Barbarian "Axe Gits" are still in...

Still the flaming projectiles look cool though.

The pics are old... Thus you can't conclude that.

Are they?... I know there are old ones shown but I am pretty sure this one hasn't been seen before.

For the most part these are very old screenshots. The few we haven't seen before were clearly taken of older build of the RTW engine.

The one of the flaming arrows is straight out of an old Gamestar movie...

But... The flaming arrows... They're... So pretty...

The first few look new to me, and I consider myself pretty in-the-know about RTW information.

I still can't help but laugh when I see that old one with the armored elephants. "That's what you get for not obeying the "Warning- Elephant crossing signs."

I didn't see any new ones of the strat map, though.

I still like them all,new or old

For me the strat map looks terrible why not just keep the old one that works so well? Judging by that mess of a campaign map it would take ages upon ages to complete movement in a turn. I guess you can zoom out but to be honest how clear is that map going to be when u zoom out?

Something new? Not to me.
Besides the first 20 years or so each turn without battles can take up to an hour if not more as it is now. And I haven't seen anything I would deem to be more demanding on my time.

i too take ages in a turn but the campaign map for vi and stw was so perfect with little pieces to move around its what made the vi campaign so refreshing for me now it just looks like any other game out there in campaign mode with a shitty interface, the reason i like the old one is that its likke risk very neat and tidy can u imagine moving 25 armies around on that 3d mishmash arrrg.

But all of most of the new strategy ideas, like army's having movement points .etc require a 3d map. The old style just wouldn't work.

Besides now you can arrange rallypoints... So you won't have the same problems.

I agree. The new 3d strategic map system seems a definite leap forward.

pshhh CA should take some lessons from Paradox on how to create a great campaign map :)

RisingSun
03-29-2004, 03:54
And how to move away from turn-based and into "pseudo-realtime." That's where the future of the total war genre is, I guarantee it.

RZST
03-29-2004, 05:38
course by that time ParadoxGames would most likely introduce something far better :p

I'm willing to givethe new strat map a chance. I loved the old map. Especially with the Shogun sounds.

Very nice touch.

I also like the idea of being able to make armies more mobile. This always frustrated me in the old systems. I couldn't build "mobile, fast attack units"

Now Mobile fast attack army grps will be possible. I wonder if raiding will be possible?

Destroy crops and infrastructure, then escape before being caught?

The Wizard

That will give very interesting options, especially with mobile armies such as the Parthians.

Send a contingent of light horse to harass, for instance, Seleucid armies while you siege their cities, or just weaken their main force and then bring your lancers in to finish the job... ahhh I can't wait anymore Again http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/cheers.gif
