The topic is the second battle (a siege) of the French's Hundred Years War Historical Campaign.

I will list what I have tried so far to win this battle:

-More than 20 attempts

-I have varied my tactics (e.g. different unit positions, different artillery targets, etc.)

-I have read all 32 pages of the Main Hall topics (in one sitting, yes, my eyes hurt), I believe only one member had the same question, but with no reply

-I read posts at another forum that says something like hahahaha it's the easiest battle...just run in because all you have to do is get 100 men inside the castle. That didn't work when I tried because I believe you have to outnumber the enemy inside the castle by 100.

I have beaten all other campaigns and they all took no more than 3 tries each.

I am frustrated, my fellow Medieval Total Warmongers Please let me know what dumb mistake I made or some tactic I overlooked, because I just want to be done with this battle and be able to move on. Thanks.

Is this the battle that has your troops split into 4 groups, each with some arty, surrounding a castle?

See the DukeofPrunes thorough post (http://pub133.ezboard.com/fshoguntotalwarfrm5.showMessage?topicID=12718.topic) on this topic over at .com

Yes, TonkaToys, this is that battle where your troops are split into 4, surrounding the castle.

Thank you, motorhead, I used the second strategy on the link page you posted, and I finally won after 3 tries. I almost have tears in my eyes. However, that final run was somewhat peculiar. First of all, it was the cleanest run I have had (no artillery disabled early in the siege, enemy outside the castle annihilated efficiently). By the time I was aiming my guns at the keep and after taking it out (per DukeofPrunes' recommended strategy), the enemy troops inside the castle proceeded to exit it. That had never happened to me before this run. I have taken out the keep before but they didn't exit the castle like this time. Anyway, as they were exiting, I ran in[to] the inner ring of the castle and won. Maybe that's what the other posts meant when they say, just run in.

Well sounds like you've sorted that one already...

I used a diversion at an opening on right hand wall but sent most troops to a couple of openings on the left. Then went for a gap I'd made in the front keep wall.
Took about three or four goes, but once I'd figured out there were enemy troops outside the walls and that I had to get inside the inner keep I had a rough idea of what I was doing.
