Hey I just noticed the icy blue looking eagle on atop the banner is this an ai controlled unit or a unit with fatigue?

HEY Thats it Those eagles are frostbite maybe that says that their battle effectiveness is greatly reduced because of the frostbite?

Or maybe the blue arms and legs is becuase of time of day?

Wish they'd give the Org some special screenies once in a while, besides the .com this is THE Totalwar site and community.
I don't like the .com community, too much noobishness.. :\

Anyway, seems to me like they are either fighting in dusk or dawn, or the screens are of such age that what happens to twenty-year old photographs has happened to a digitial screenshot as well... http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

Yeah, too much n00b power

another though

those blue signs look like angels... maybe some sign of the bonus recieved of being near the general? that would explain why units closer to the general have them and not the further ones

Excellent stuff,

We shall fight until we gain victory... No More stopping because our men have to be home before sunset

Hey if it gets too dark some fire arrows could lighten things up nicely http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

They're not the new valour symbols, as those are still the little flags. And obviously this is from an MP game, because everybody in sight has 4 valour. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/tongue.gif

Guys, its winter- those Romans are wearing long underwear-ish stuff.

It is dusk or dawn, not night. I think we can expect night to much darker.

I have no idea what the eagle-like things are, but it is interesting to note that it is not present at the general's unit (big square banner like in MTW) or the other cavalry units (seems to be two with a possible third).

Anyway I like it. I bloody don't care if the men look a little bluish as long as the lithing and sky is good, and it certainly is. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-yes.gif

Those screenshots look sweet, the weather effects look much improved from MTW (although they're good in MTW too).

Both thumbs up here http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-2thumbsup.gif

HOLD UP

Look at the units which have the eagles- they seem terribly small compared to what we have seen so far. Perhaps they are maniples, from the same cohort(s)??

I know they scrapped dividing, but maybe they brought it back? I think we saw it in the Marathon TC episode...

If this is true... *orgasms*

Hey, all units with the eagle have valor-flags.

It's probably a valor-sign people http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

But at least one of the cavalry units have valour too. Notice the three smaller banners with the two bigger banners? And no, I don't think it is another three units.

Hey I noticed in the CGW movie (in the part where the catapults fire) you can see a unit with a gold eagle over ther banner, my thoughts is that it shows the general unit and the ice coloured ones are possibly Ai general?

RisingSun
03-31-2004, 00:56
No, I believe we've seen general banners already in TC, and they are just like MTW. And, there are too many of these eagles to be AI generals- from what we can gather, there will be a max of one or two.

What about my idea? Anyone?

Scipio
03-31-2004, 01:02
The idea about it beinng devided cohorts?it is possible but it doesnt explain why they should have special eagles.

RisingSun
03-31-2004, 03:18
To show they are A) From the same cohort/century or B) Top simply show they are divided, so you don't get them mixed up with your undivided troops, trying blindly to mix troops from different centuries together.

That is my opinion, at least. It explains why the undermanned legions have uit, but the full strength units dont.

Understrength? They are of the same size and the ones that doesn't have the eagles are the cavalry... Thus we can't really conclude that they are understrength. In fact there are 60 men in each unit + centurion and signifier.
14*4 = 56 + 4 from the last rank.
That also answer the lingering question if the centurion and signifiers would be part of the numbers or extras. It seems they are extras.
