i'm confuse, are the Connachts hand-to-hand unit or a missile unit. i know they throw "spears". The most important question is an i treat them like a hand2hand unit? Btw, what's the history of the Bonnachts, i got really interested in them after playing as the Irish in VI http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-gossip.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-gossip.gif

I believe that their melee stats are equal to that of the Celtic Warriors. They are an excellent core infantry unit when their morale is strong. They are not a true missile unit, as each man carries only one heavy spear projectile. Those are just something to give them added power. The Dartmen are better suited for missile combat, if you really want to use missiles when playing as the Irish.
Remember to take them off skirmish mode.
If you're playing the English in MedMod and you have Ireland, which are better h2h, Claymores/Galloglaichs or Bonnachts?

Gallowglaich, armor piercing and much higher defense.
well, I find that firing the bonnachts at point blank usually takes out half the opposing unit so they can often be more effective.
those heavy javs really do drop the opposition dead fast
