Just a thought does anyone know if the time commander battles will make it to rome total war?

I have already advocated this a couple of times. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

There are several reasons for this. The battles are great first of all. They are in several cases not easily won or easily considered. Meaning they can be hard to think out. And I like that. In most SMT or MTW Historical Battles it was fairly easy to see how to win, even if that was not so easy to actually do.
The last reason would be the bragability one would get for winning such a battle. Well not us of course but a newbie that has only seen TC would get a lot out of winning those battles where the teams lost.

so true, the headaches I got at Odawara for not acting fast enough so the plan would work .. I think I got a trauma for there.

Yes the Time Commanders battles should be in there...

Imagine doing what the team failed to do at Watling Street

"We are outnumbered six to one"... "Yeah, and?"

Yes, and the possibility to add new/our own. I somehow assume that this is what RTW will offer.

I wonder if in the future everybody will refer to RTW as "that damned Time Commanders game"...

We must have TC battles in RTW. With option to play Dr. Nusbacher. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-toff.gif

Ahh by fall RTW will almost be out by then http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/angry.gif Hey I just thought of an interesting idea, I think we should have a multiplayer historic battle option where yu replay history on teams or just 1v1 any thoughts?[Scip implies that we should have a tc like mp mode]

We will get the ones that took place during the timeframe of the game;
Cannae
Telamon
Tigranocerta
Silarus River
Raphia

What we may get are som of the earlier battles like;
Marathon
Luectra
Gaugemela

What we won't get are the later battles;
Chalons
Adrianople

I think my reasoning is fairly obvious and therefore unassailable. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/tongue.gif

I don't agree...

These battles could be playable. The mechanics of fighting hadn't changed, only who actualy fought (different legionaries) and with what equipment.
And the historical importance was still big for the involved factions (unlike in MTW where the battles had changed and factions vanished).

There was a little more consistency in the time after RTW than after MTW.

Also, you should add Mons Graupius and Watling Street to the non-playable battles. They were imperial battles after the conquest of Brittain. Thus they are out of the timeframe. If they are playable then the others are too.

The only battle I have a hard time seeing getting into the game must be Qadesh. Too far outside the timeframe.

I don't see any reason to leave them out of the historical battles.

Ok so they are not part of the timeframe for the "Imperial Campaign" but the units that fought are actually quite the same as those in the main campaign... Standard Roman Legions, Celts with Chariots and big swords, all in all its pretty much the same as they were during the initial Roman conquest of Britain.

The Battles I'd leave out is the Egypt/Hittite one, the Atilla the Hun battle, and the Goths vs the Eastern Empire.

Those do seem to be too far outside the timeframe... Everything else fits quite well.

The battle of Hadrianopolis was fought out between several legions of the Roman emperor Valens and the entire Gothic people. One of the reasons the empire got split into two was this beautifully idiotic loss. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif

It had already split before the battle, but the two empires became more distant after it.

Ah, I had forgotten. This period of Roman history is relatively uninteresting, to me at least.

Qadesh could be in,considering the ptolmeys in-game look like the ancient egyptians.... http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/tongue.gif

Ironically a lot of other games portray the Ptolmeys as ancient egyptians,like Praetorians,Strength and Honour and other games set in the same time period....
