Improved loyalty of the general, but they then become a potential civil war leader because they are now part of the royal family...

It also has cosmetic affect, if you're into such aspects. Marry a princess to -say- Lord Chamberlain, Duke of Wessex, and then all succeeding dukes of Wessex will be named Lord Chamberlain (MTW 2.01).

Parading the little fifteen year old tarts around Europe to find a taker always seemed a bit crude to my sensibilities. Besides, it's highly embarrassing when there are no interested parties. Poor kid. Maybe shunting them off to a general ain't all that bad. However, I was under the impression that if I had no male heirs, and married a wee one to a general, that would help insure against losing by default....default of my king not havin' a son. I've still lost. Anyone know for sure?

Doubt it :/
Think it is reserved for only heirs.

Only thing I ever inherited from a family member was an idiot son. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/frown.gif
