A. How does one become a Senior Patron?
B. Does this allow posting in all forums?
C. If not what does and what is the process to move up the ladder of posters?
I'm not impatient, I'm fine with posting in the entrance hall. I'm just curious about this as I would love to post in some of the great topics in the other forums.

I'm not a moderator so I wouldn't know exactly. However, by helping out other org members, being nice and respectful, and not flaming or spaming the forums.
Being a senior patron does not allow posting In all forums (I think http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/rolleyes.gif ), and Im not sure what ones It does allow.
You can post In most or all (except the watcht tower I believe) when you become a member. You will become one after senior patron after a few weeks and generallly helping out.

From the New? Please read this first topic pinned at the top of this forum:
----
Promotion to Senior Patron
There is no set number of posts or time limit for promotion to Senior Patron. Promotions are agreed upon by the Entrance Hall moderators (Gregoshi, KukriKahn, Lord Of Storms and MonkeyMan) and require that you participate in discussions in the Entrance Hall. You need to post often enough so that we can see how you interact with others in the forum environment. Your posts need not be profound, intelligent, witty or even agreeable. They do need to be respectful of others, not profane and non-hostile. We can promotion a Junior Patron based on one well constructed, informative post or, more typically, several multi-sentence posts. Although not guaranteed, most promotions are made within a few days of your participation in threads at the Entrance Hall. Unacceptable behaviour will, at best, delay a promotion.
Senior Patron
A Senior Patron can post in all the forums except the Tavern and has flood control restriction that allows only one post every 90 seconds. This is equivalent to what a member at the old UBB forum had. Promotion to Member is usually automatic and happens, unannounced, with a week or two of becoming a Senior Patron.

Oops, Zack snuck in ahead of me while I was writing my response. I just wanted to make one clarification of Zack's otherwise good post: you don't need to be helpful to get ahead. If all you want to do here is ask questions when you have them, that is okay. I just don't want you thinking you are required to perform some sort of community service in order to get promoted. All we ask is that our patrons remain civil and respectful of each other.

Ok, thanks. I knew I had seen the thread you quoted, I just couldn't remember where. And like an idiot didn't look down far enough on the pinned ones. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-confused.gif I was looking for it in Forum Rules like it was gonna be a general info message with a page of it's own.
Thanks for the reply, I'll keep posting.

One of these days I'll get around to organizing all those pinned topics better in order have fewer of them cluttering up the forum.

The problem is, all pinned topics are equal, so when people reply to one of them, it rises to the top. We need a pin pinned topic function. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-inquisitive.gif

Can't you lock topics? I've seen other forums use this on their pinned topics which are mainly intended for informational purposes and don't really need replies.

I'm pretty sure It is but the fact still exists that other stickied topics, when posted In, would rise above the other stickies. Being locked, the topic you are talking to would sink to the bottom after awhile, which might be more useful because Its easy to find. However, what if someone needs help or asks about a certain rule, no where to post it is there.

Well, I guess I was thinking he would lock all the pinned topics, so they would all stay put. Basically using that function to control all the pinned topics. As for posting questions, people could do as I did, make a new topic.
Unless of course the mods want questions that relate to the specific Pinned topics confined to those threads. But you can't really control that anyway, so..... Just thinking out loud here, trying to help out.

PA, we can lock topics, but some of the pinned ones we allow/want people to reply, thus the problem remains the same.
Zack, no need for apologies. You helped and that is appreciated by the EH mods and PO. Your comment about helping appears to be correct because helping others seems to be the nature of many of the patrons here. Some have always been that way, others are appreciative of the help they received here when they were new and are just returning the favour. Whatever the reason, helping isn't a requirement, it is just one of those characteristics that makes these forums a good place to hang out. So I thank you (and a whole host of other patrons) for your contributions in making these forums what they are. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/ht_bow.gif
Edit: I'm too slow. This is the second time you guys slipped in ahead of me.

Just posted that to see what you would say http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif
PS PA (lol that sounds wierd) Welcome to the org Poison arrow, I hope your stay is enjoyable
i don't really think that the non-hostile rule is a fair one as it's stated. i mean, if you're saying non-hostile to other members that's one thing. but some of us like myself have a very pessimistic and hostile demeanor towards life in general. it's an innate trait - so to say you must be non-hostile in general is kind of discriminating against those types of people.

Though you may not be able to post in the tavern you can still read the women of Soly. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-curtain.gif
And that is ALL that counts, anyway you don't wanna get stuck in with all those nasty, nasty right - wingers in the tavern ;)

Quote[/b] (Navaros @ April 04 2004,16:55)]i don't really think that the non-hostile rule is a fair one as it's stated.
Navaros, the non-hostile is meant in general, though we are mostly concerned about posts being non-hostile towards other people. Civility and respect towards others is expected. You can disagree with others, be pessimistic http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-end.gif , brood about something http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-brood.gif and express dislike/disappointment, but in general it should be done with civility. We can overlook the occassional rant as long as forum rules aren't too severely bent - everyone has bad days. But a constant barrage of profanity-laden flames will not be tolerated. Our patrons don't appreciate it and it is also counter-productive to any kind of point the hostile poster is trying to make. The point gets lost in a sea of hostility. Constructive criticism leds to discussion about the issue. Hostility leads to discussion about the hostility.
Your comment about being a pessimistic person doesn't surprise me based on the posts you've made so far. You are obviously have difficulty with the game and your frustration comes out loud and clear. I hope you have noticed all the help you have received with your problems. I see that Kraellin and Red Peasant are still working with you on your hardware problem over in the Apothecary. And here in the Entrance Hall too - whether it be with archers, winning a battle, crusades or reinforcements, you've had a line of people posting information trying to help you. I'd like to think your frustrations and pessimism will lessen knowing you've got help waiting for you here and you won't wait so long that you are http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-wall.gif before asking for help. We love the TW games and we'd like you to like it as well. That you don't is bothersome (to me at least). I'm sure I'm not alone when I say I'm helping you in hopes that you will finally see the brilliance of the game - our game and, hopefully someday, your game too. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/pat.gif
Navo - there are no innate traits - only choices. Don't deceive yourself into thinking you cannot make choices because of it. /sartre.
