Are there any WW1 or WW2 mods for MTW? I haven't seen any but I thought there was one. By WW1/2 I mean in that time period (early 1900s).

Well, I've wondered what it would be like to make a mod starting in 1871. WWI seems more compatible with the MTW engine - although perhaps WWII could work as well. One could use the example of HTW using religion to represent method of government- say, having Democratic, Fascist, or Communist.

I just think this could be so cool. Imagine having 1600 riflemen firing into a line of 4 machine gun crews with 300 rifleman for support. The machine guns rip apart 3 units of riflemen before they finally start to overpower with superior numbers. The machine gunners flee and the enemy riflemen start to rout as your riflemen encroach.
They could replace ballista's with machine gun crews (which would be at least 8 times more effective and 5 times more expensive), seige weapons with artillery and howitzers, and all but a few of the units with ranged infantry. The cavalry could be tanks/ other armed vehicles.
The thing is, during the World Wars standing upright in lines and presenting yourself to enemy fire was considered... well, really crappy tactics :D. You might be able to pull off a WWI mod (key word: might), with trench warfare/infantry charges/artillery and all that stuff. But there's no way a WWII mod would work on this engine. You'd have to implement cover, different body positions (standing/crouch/prone), anti-tank weapons etc. And even then it would just look bad having all your guys firing volleys and walking in formation all the time.
There's one critical thing to creating any mod for 20th century warfare - there is no provision for machine-gun type weapons in the game. The projectile file has a minimum set reloading time which can create at most quickfiring guns but certainly not machine-guns. I'm not sure if you can simulate it well enough with a modified organ-gun type salvo but you surely won't get the ratatat type fire of machine-guns. I would think that you might get to mod late 19th century conflicts at most, like maybe an American Civil War mod :)
Best regards,
Clare

Yeah well I knew it wouldn't be perfect but still it could work if you don't want to be completely realistic. For machine guns you don't need continuous fire you just need one shot that'll bring down like 20+ troops with a long reloading time. This way it'll simulate the devestation of machine guns in WW1 without changing the engine. Sure having everyone in formation will look funny but oh well It won't look that bad if they're in single/double lines.
Are there any mods set in the 19th or 18th century out? That would be pretty cool too. I just want a change to guns for a while.
