I was sitting around trying to think of interesting ways to make the game more challenging... I think I've come up with a good one.

Game setting: Any period, any faction.
Game goal: Eliminate as many factions as you can within the first 40 years.

Basically, the point of the game is to try and personally eliminate as many factions as you can. You get +1 points for any faction you eliminate. You get -1 points for any faction you eliminated that returns (but you can get the +1 again for re-eliminating them). You get no points for factions that other empires eliminate. And you can't use .matteosartori. as it would give too much of an advantage in spying out weak factions.

So far my best is eliminating 4 factions (Spanish, Argonese, Egyptian, Turkish). I don't think I was playing the best faction for it (Almohad), so I think it shouldn't be hard to do better.

Feel free to post your results here. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/bigthumb.gif

one good faction to do this with is a corner faction like england. for the almos, it would probably be better for you to have steamrolled europe instead of tediously going through north africa as you likely didn't even have ships by then.

I managed to conquer everything by 1160 so that's 73 years and I definitely conquered more than 4 during 40.

IMO, this is not too hard at all. you should assign point values for the factions. for example, egyptians should be like 3 unless you are very close as they are bigger later on.

BTW, if you want to do this, you will want to avoid faction reemergences so do not try conquering the almos.

they tend to immortalize themselves by occupying portugal which is bound to rebel sooner or later and they get to arise from the ashes again.

Possibly. We could always decrease the number of years (drop it to 25 or lower) if 40 proves to be too many. The reason I didn't try to steamroll Europe is because they are all Catholic provinces, which are harder to 'pacify' with Muslims. And taking the time to convert them all to Islam would have eaten up a lot of time. Just doing so for the Spanish territory took more years than I wanted.
