View Full Version : Possible bug with (Secret) Pride
Been playing awhile with the latest patch, and noticed something odd. I can't absolutely verify it, because it's only be anecdotal so far.
Basically, it seems like the effects of Pride/Secret Pride are reversed. Any time a general gets Secret Pride, which should only decrease command by -1, it seems to go down -2. And any time one of my generals gets Pride, which should lower command -2, it only goes down -1. Anyone else observed this? If I'm not delusional http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif it seems like it would be worth it to "expose" the general with the vice simply to get my +1 command point back.

Yes and you lose 2 accuman too with secret pride. But I think that you won't regain your command and accuman if you expose thier pride.
This showed up in VI 2.0 if I remember correctly.

If you expose the pride vice he is just one step closer to lazy which has no plus effects.
The Pride vices are
Secret Pride, Pride, Lazy, Very Lazy.
I can't say i've seen what your on about although i've seen the AI actually loose the pride vice but keep the valour(i think this is to do with tiding up units).
The lazy line is different from the pride line, in my observation.
I've noticed that secret pride gives the penalty pride does but I haven't noticed if pride gives the penalty of secret pride.

Lazy does come after Pride. I've observed it MANY times. Lazy can also come by itself. I've seen that too.
I have also seen governors get pride and not recieve a drop in acumen http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif . I play VI 2.01.
Yeah, that's because when you get pride, you actually get the values of secret pride, and there is no acumen penalty for secret pride.

lazy is not a part of the 'pride' vice line. one get's lazy for sitting too long in a province and doing nothing... i have seen it many times over and over again. it's quite possible that you forget a proud general in a province for years so he becomes lazy though :)

Pride can convert to lazy, that's how I discovered the pride bug from the beginning.
Lets see now my general's first vice was Pride, suddenly the pride vice is gone and his first vice is lazy. And at the same time, he lost one accuman and no other stats was changed. Explain that to me in any other way. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Lazy Replaced Pride? I have never seen that happen in all my campaigns.
Lazy always comes on from inactivity, but it doesn't seem to replace Pride.

I have seen Lazy replace Pride about half a dozen times. First time was when I was playing as the Vikings and saw one of my ex-princes get it 2 years after he attacked a province and singlehandedly killed the Northumbrian King with all 14 of his his bodyguard. Last time I saw it was last week on Tancred de Normandie
I've seen Tancred become lazy quite often. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-wall.gif

maybe, with the new patch they've started to eliminate some conflicting vices. i.e., pride and laziness kind of don't go together... unfortunately, there is still a bunch of conflicting vices that still seem to prevail. atheist and true believer for example... :)

move tancred around every two or three turns and he'll avoid the lazy vice ;) it's quite possible he'll become highly educated thus earning another command star :)

on another note, i've seen the pride vice replaced by other vices lately... yesterday, one of my generals lost his pride once he had become highly educated...
I've seen it disappear without any reason. It just did. I thought some generals lose some vices when they die and get replaced but lately it just seems to happen. Not that I'm complaining since my generals get too many vices and not enough virtues when I get powerful.
