new MP name

hey, i tried to get a new MP name, however, once i register, and gamespy tells me i have opened the account, medieval tells me that the nickname is already in use by another Medieval player. how do i get a new account.

i'll list the steps i went through.
1) i went into my game and clicked multiplayer
2) i selected, register on gamespy
3) i went through the whole registration process, and completed it sucessfully
4) i went back into my game
5) selected play on gamespy
6) entered in my new account info
7) and was told that another (presumably me) medieval player already had that nickname.

What is your new and old mp names? If you went on the gamespy program on your desktop I'm pretty sure there is a way to change the original nickname without having to make a new account...I might be wrong though

No, your old mp name hasn't been deleted and yes, gamespy will keep telling you that it is already in use by another player. Your right, that player is you.
I have used my mp name for 2 years and recently changed from 56k to adsl. I had a new email address because I had changed isp.
All I did was inform gamespy of my new email through the registration thingy and then I was unable to get online, same reason as you. After 7, yes 7, emails to Gamespy I gave up and added another letter to my name so that I could log on.
See if you can change your name this way...Carsolan...instead of carsolan, if that is your mp name, it might work.

perhaps you misunderstood me, my old account no longer exists, so i am getting an entirely new one, this one is the one giving me all these problems.

Suggestion.....be a bit more clear.
Does your new account have a different user name?
What are the user names that you are trying? ( old account and new ) Are they the same?
If they are the same name, Gamespy will accept your new account and you only get the name already in use message when you try to go online. The other user is you...with the old account http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/frown.gif just as Jochi has said.
Gamespy seems to treat MP'ers a little poorly IMO, they don't seem able to grasp the fact that online names are important to the individual. Old account.......carsolan
New account.......Carsolan...{Carsolan}...^Carsolan^..._Carsolan_....or any other variable.

the problem is, my old account, when i tried to log into it, (on the gamespy site itself) no longer exists, the e-mail address that it was registered under no longer allows me to log in. therefore, i tried to open up a new account, which i did sucessfully, i thought.... sorry about any misunderstanding.
