hi, i know how to edit bifs and such, but i wondered, can i give the units new weapons. This all revolves around the co-ordinates, but i don't know where to edit them.

cheers. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-party2.gif

Hello Duke Dick,

Assuming that we talk about STW WE/MI:

Some units have the weapon included with each animation, some other units have empty hands and there are one or more weapons in the BIF. You can swap those weapons, or edit new weapons in the BIF.

The info is in STW\Textures\Men Spears (only Spear units have empty hands in STW WE/MI). But there are also Spear subdirectories in the unitdirectories (like Ashi\Spears).
I don't know which has to be used, maybe both, but it's also possible that one is old and no longer used.

MTW and VI use the more developed system, every unit is empty there and weapon and shields are all stored in MTW\Textures\Men\Items. It's a similar system though, so head to the Dungeon to learn about editing Charge.txt, Run.txt, Fight.txt and all the others. Barocca has some experience with the STW units, but Duke John, Lord Krazy and others can help you as well.

Good luck.

If I don't remember wrong Barocca has edited some Naginata infantery too, with new armour.

Look on Doragon's web page, it should be posted there a how to guide.

Cheers,

Pao

Hello PaolinoPaperino,

That's right. Barocca used the STW BIF for the naginata.
