So I've played the game all the way through several times now. I stopped playing for a few months, (did NOT remove the game from my system) and picked it up again as the Danes in early/expert. I noticed I couldn't build a navy. I could build the units but after they were done in the unit queue they would not appear on the campaign map.

So I get clobbered as the Danes, ( and I think hey, so what couldn't build a navy anyhow) and I start another game as the French in Early on Hard. Things are going fine but, again, I can't build any boats.

I NEVER had any problem like this before in any of my other campaigns as the Brittish, Italians, etc. Anyone have any tips? PLEASE http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/frown.gif

beats me - unless you can only get your ship types after a certain date (eg; like you can't get caravels before compass is invented)

So I used the Mateosartori cheat....do you think that had anything to do with it?>

sounds like you may have hit the x or z keys. I can't recall which does which, but they turn off/on the visibility of friendly/foreign armies/agents.

It can also be purely a known (well at least to me) bug. I had the same thing happen to me with newly build units in one specific province once in a while. Don't think I've seen it happen with more then one province/sea regions screwing up, but it's possible to happen with multiple provinces/sea regions a game. I think that saving, exiting MTW, restarting MTW and reloading the savegame might work. But I can't remember if it fixed it for me. You can at least try and see if it works. Maybe it's a problem that occured in one of the earlier versions of MTW. Can't recall it happening in quite some time now and I have VI 2.01.

It's definitly annoying

When you use matteosartori it causes the ships to vanish if you save the game or load it with the cheat on. This happens across the entire ocean, not just one province or area.

To solve it take the cheat off, then load the saved game -all ships will now be restored. In future, also always take the cheat off before loading/saving etc. Or buy VI, which lacks this bug.

edit: should also add that restarting the game may not necessarily fix if you leave the cheat on.
