View Full Version : Accuracy of projectiles?
A question fellows :)
Does the accuracy and/or strength of projectiles diminish or vary depending on the range? Like will weapons fired at point blank range (guns for example) have a different effect than if fired at longer range?
Just wondering,
Clare
Armour penetration and killpower stays the same over range. Only thing that drops is accuracy so less kills when shooting at long range.

Thanks for the info :) I was wondering if there actually was a difference :) Will accuracy be affected by projectile velocity though? Like if the projectile gets where its going fast enough does it travel at a flatter trajectory than one with lower velocity?
Just wondering,
Clare
It does travel at a flatter trajectory. Just see the difference between say crossbows and bows. A flat trajectory means the missile have a chance of moving far enough to hit a unit behind the target.
Long range shots from bows means the arrows drop down on the target so a unit directly behind the target is in no real danger of getting hit too. With crossbows you need a good safe distance to prevent that from happening.
Another thing is hills. As a defender its always an advantage to have missile on top of hill shooting down. But where to out the supporting infantry? I have had infantry standing down slope completely out of sight but getting hit a lot by enemy crossbows. The trajectory meant that the enemy bolts, who passed through my crossbows, happened to land where my units where heh.
EDIT: Crossbows might be better at hitting a moving target (moving toward the shooter) as the lower trajectory isnt effected much by the movement compared to bows...not sure how big the effect is though.
