Maybe its because I've gotten into the habit of playing before bedtime or maybe its because I'm so darned excited about MTW.....
This has been going on for a few weeks now, and my girlfriend says I'm talking in my sleep, although she's not quite sure what I'm saying. It's probably something like "Turn the flank" or "I'm getting shot to pieces here!" or my personal favorite "Hey, allies, I'm out."
LAst night I dreamed I fought an army armed with tomohawks. This is getting wierd.
lol-i havent dreamt that yet

Did it involve Geishas and maple syrup????
When you start chanting the Japanese and Mongol battle music during your commute, in your sleep or in the shower... that is an indication you *might* be playing to much.
If its just dreams of battles... it just means your life is being torn between reality and Shogun. Soon, son, you will have to choose... http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/eek.gif

MD- Damn, you found out.....
Vanya- Does humming count? Is so, then I choose STW
I never listen to the music. However, when I close my eyes, I see little sprites running 24/7.

for us modders and mappers it works a little bit differently. when yer out and about in the real world you tend to look at trees and go, 'you know, if i took a digital picture of that, downloaded it to my computer, textured it and scaled it and swapped it out with this file or that or simply added it in this file, that would make a great tree for my new map/mod.
in other words, reality has become the dream, and the map/mod/game has become reality. reality is just a tool to make a better map...hmm, that would make a nice sig :)

I used to get it when \i was playing half life MP seriously, back before counterstrike. Dreams about hunting down you mates with Gauss guns are a little concerning
It was when I started paying attention to where snipers could be hiding and keeping an eye on airconditioning vents to make sure no one broke though them to shoot me that I was worried

Many times lately, I've been noticing 2-4 birds circling above a group of trees and thinking "ambush".

I remember on a train journey to Bristol from Brighton all I could think of seeing some rolling hills was where to place the archers, where the yari...possibly guarding against some mad cows?!

Can't say that I have dreamed Total War scenarios/battles/campaigns but have had times when I could not got to sleep directly after playing because I was worrying/thinking a problem out. I have found that about 1/2 hour of trying to read something (other than STW), finding something mindless on TV (not hard to do) does help some.
I still do think about formations/tactics/units composition, etc from time to time throughout day and make notes.
My wife one day was wondering what all these lines and squiggles and undecipherable (to her) annotations on post-its while cleaning up around computer. Fortunatley my son was on his computer and replied..don't touch any of it, it's Dad's Shogun stuff. Later she asked me what they meant, I started to oblige, her eyes glazed over quickly and hasn't asked since....hehe.
I don't think there is a cure; it is like an addiction.
Many times when I climbed on a hill, I'd look around and talk to myself: "Oh, yeah, high ground. Now if only I had a Yari ..."

...and when this smart guy visited me yesterday, trying hard to sell me just another insurance, i watched his archers preliminaries in silence, moved my cav in the mean time in their positions and responded to his approaching massive gunfirepower by suddenly charging with my whole army from all directions! You should have seen, how fast he left my house, running wildly and crying all the time: A mad-man! A Psychomaniac! Help me!
I suddenly realized that i was the Taisho in the heart of combat, holding my Bohemian long sword in my hands, routing the enemy forces off the field...
I know, i should visit a doctor...hehe
Also disturbing:
My wife calls me Kasuga or Kas

Actually... my arquebusiers are told to baby-step their way to the frontlines. Each small step forward is exactly that. It gives them a sense of progress, and they can feel pride in acheiving that small goal. That way, they are less likely to panic when all their comrades around them drop dead.
It's the "Amazing Race" aspect of the charge. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/tongue.gif
If I can push back the carpal tunnel syndrome barrier with the latest ergonimic equipment, I'll be able to up my Shogun playing time to 12 hrs a day. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

OMG. I work outdoors 6-8 hours a day...I hear the crows & ask them "Alright, where are they?", knowing ambush is imminent. Good thing it's California and everybody else drives. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

Whats bad is watching your 5 year old cousin playing with army men and start showing him formations you use in Shogun and him noy knowing what the hell you're talking about. The worst part is when you proceed to have a battle with them, "OH NO MY GUNS ARE ROUTING, WIMPS!!!!"
lol...wen my girlfriend tried to wake me up the other morning i apparently said...."The General has been assassinated"...lately ive been playing shogun online lots aswell as reading Shogun by James CLavell and watching the tv series on video...OH MY GOD...I think im turning Japanese
Ok...let's face it...we need help.
Let's say $10.000.000 each from EA and twice that amount for our wives/girlfriends.

Don't even compare to me guys.
I spent all my time at college thinking of Shogun, and then most the time outta college playing it. In the end I failed almost all my exams. Now I realising what a mess I've got myself into...and gotta get myself to college again....but only to do the same again?
Who needs treatment moreso than me? http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif
Computer nerd? No, 'cos I know nothing about computers, I just play on 'em http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif
