What's your best strategy for splitting Europe, North Africa, and Asia Minor into 100 separate kingdoms?

Wow http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/eek.gif 100 sounds a bit too ambitious at first but let's give it a try. Using the existing provinces:

2 Armenian kingdoms in Asia
4 Byzantine ones (in Asia and Peloponnesos)
3 Turkish realms, in Syria and two in Asia
1 Georgian kingdom
1 County of Edessa
1 Principality of Antiokheia
1 Kingdom of Jerusalem
3 Emirates in Arabia, Kyrenaika and Tunisia
1 Saltanate in Egypt
5 Saltanates in Algeria, Morocco, Qurtuba, Valencia and Granada
7 seperate kingdoms, counties or whatever on Sicilia, Corsica, Sardinia, Kriti, Rodhos, Kypros, Malta
3 khanates in Khazar, Volga and Krym
7 Russian pincipalities in Novgorod, Muskovy, Smolensk, Ryazan, Chernigov, Pereyaslavl and Kiev
3 voivodas in Wallachia, Moldavia and Erdel
1 Bulgarian kingdom
6 Slavic realms in Serbia, Croatia, Volhynia, Poland, Silesia, Bohemia
5 independent realms in Finland, Livonia, Lithuania, Prussia, Pomerania
1 Dane kingdom
1 Swede kingdom
1 Norse kingdom
1 Scots kingdom
3 Anglosaxon kingdoms
1 Welsh principality
1 Irish kingdom
11 duchies and counties in Friesland, Flandre, Champagne, Burgogne, Aquitaine, Normandy, Bretagne, Anjou, Tolouse, Provence and Switzerland
1 Frank kingdom (French if high/late)
7 Graffs, Kurnfürsts, Königs in Brandenburg, Sachsen, Franken, Bayern, Lotharingien, Schwaben and Tyrol
1 kingdom of Österreich
1 kingdom of Magyarorszag
7 realms in Italian states
5 kingdoms in Catholic Spain

Makes a total of 96. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/tongue.gif

I have a wish (rather than a concrete plan) of making an Asia minor campaign mod starting from 1300 lasting up to mid 1600s. The early phase of it should start with:

14-15 Turkish realms;
5-6 rebel Byzantine provinces plus the Empire herself and Trebizond;
1 or 2 Armenian kingdom(s);
Mongolian Khanate;
Egyptians;
Georgian kingdom;
Genoese colonies;
Venetian colonies;
Crusader knights' orders (on the islands and in Western Asia)

***

Think about this plan in every region of the map seperately and you have hundreds of provinces. Unfortunately MTW won't allow it. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/mecry.gif

Okay, maybe I was setting my sights too high. 96, then.

Considering what the rebels start out with, what provinces should one take first playing as them? I'd say invade Poland and Russia from all sides and take out those two factions early on, then move El Cid out of Valencia and into Aragon to take out that minor player. Maybe train a thousand highland clansmen and take out the English in a century or so? Then, it's only a matter of time and many rebellions before all of the map is divided into approximately 96 separate nations.

The only problem I see with this is that perhaps it won't work.

Well, I just tried playing as the rebels and my plan of taking out the Russians and the Polish worked rather well. I don't think I will even have to bother with re-emerging factions, either, because it seems that rebel provinces always have 100% loyalty no matter what.

As for Britain, I can take Northumbria and maybe Wessex. Spain is rather hopeless; El Cid is a great general, but he can't do much against the combined forces of the Spanish, Aragonese, and Almohads, not to mention the French and English. Portugal, however, is a very useful province as it is constantly in rebellion.

The main problem with consolidating my control over Russia is that the Byzantines keep invading my provinces.

Playing the Rebels http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/eek.gif That would be a great change from the usual stuff. Are you using -ian?

Actually, reemerging factions will be a pain in the @55 because they will reemerge in rebel provinces even with constant 100% loyalty. Your solutions are to either try to kill them as they reemerge, or even better, to assassinate their king and heirs to get another nice huge rebel army http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/tongue.gif . Ahhh, the joys of playing rebels.

You are quite correct that the steppes will be your main base, but if you managed to eliminate poland, you can probably drive into HRE, which might split them into civil war, giving you even more provs. With luck, you might actually win http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smokin.gif

yep, have el cid hold off as long as he could. each time, use portugal force to carve through cordoba etc. to join his troops in valencia.

this means he can last quite a while (unless he gets bribed) http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/mecry.gif this happened to me whe I was playing rebels and el cid was a 9* utterly fearless dude.

then spain bribed him traitor

he put down portugal too http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/mecry.gif

HRE is a good target.

civil wars galore = many many more troops for you.

BTW, keep an eye on scotland. you can easily get many free troops out of that too.

BTW, head south. get past the byz in georgia and then hit the turks, take syria for assasins to wipe out reemerging factions for free troops.

eggy sultan is low influence and you may get a civil war.

almos are also very easy to pitch into civil war. In fact, it happens spontaneously.

pincher the almos is good and then you might even win

biggest challenge is getting bribed though.
