okay, here is my question; I am trying to beat the game using a bit of logic. But I want to know if anyone knows how many provinces there are in the game and how many years you get to conquer them? Then all you need to do is the math. So if anyone can answere these questions it would be greatly appreciated.

yes somewhere from 90 to a 100 provs. If you start from early, you have until 1453 to conquer them all, so 1453-1087 is 466 turns so you need an average of around 95/466 provs per turn >~1/5.

However, you really don't need that much time. I've conquered the entire world as england in ~80 years or so. Plus, the game will let you have a 60% victory, so it could be even faster.

yep. there is about 96 provinces. This means about 39 provinces, you become hated superpower at 40% territory or so.

son of spam is very correct, it's waaaaay too much time.

when I start in early, no matter what I do, I have difficulty in preventing myself from conquering everything before High rolls around.

It's hard to resist crushing an itsy bitsy faction that just decided to war on you and the process repeats itself.

the fastest I've ever done it was as the english in 1160. I was not trying to set a speed record at all and did the whole setup trade and crusades etc.

if you use mercs and strictly spear/archer hordes, you can probabaly do so in half that time.

I'm quite serious. constant warfare with low level troops is easy. You can easily rush two nearby factoins and gain enough land to outmass anyone else. Though byz can be tough to kill, you could just out attrit them. 10 woodsmen or spears a year from you compared to 1 byz inf a year form them means you win http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

you could finance your war efforts through ransoms alone.

LoL figures I have been going about it the total opposite way. Trying to get the very best troops possible in my faction.

getting the very best troops isn't a bad idea.

however, it's not the way to conquering the world in the fastest possible manner.

if you need high tech troops to form a strong core, just use mercs who can be citadel level and be available instantly. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

I checked two excel spreadsheets and they both list 98 provs. You'll get the 60% minor victory offered when u control 59 provs.

Hmm late doesn't give you much time to take over the whole of the map. Considering loyalty issues etc.

true. Late gives you roughly 130 years to conquer everything.

that's why TD with factions like Turks in Late is quite crazy.

still, peasant types for garrisons is usually more than enough to ensure sufficient loyalty.

also, I don't like prolonged wars but instead strike fast and decisively.

assuming naval dominance, you can wipe out a 7 or 8 province faction in two turns with a massive amphibious strike.

building up quietly as a midsized power with economy and navy up until 1400 and then bust out everything and pump troops every turn may very well be able to yield a victory.
