View Full Version : AI Question

Hey there, quick question, something I’ve been thinking about. Right now I’ve got a nice campaign going expert/early/Italian, and surprisingly enough none of the AI factions have fallen into rebellion and anarchy yet. I know all about the AI getting a slight combat bonus and a +4 morale bonus on expert, and I know that’s just to compensate for the human advantage: what I was wondering is if the AI gets any sort of economic stat boost, like a faster build rate for buildings/units. I don’t mind the combat bonuses at all, but I think it would detract from the game if the AI can produce buildings in half the time. I don’t think it does, but anyhow, if one of you wise all-knowing sages can put my mind at ease about this, I’d be mighty appreciative. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-wall.gif

I can't swear to it, never seen a post by a dev explicitly rule it out, but I can say i've never seen any behavior (ships popping out every turn, fort to fortress in 5 years, etc) that would indicate the AI does this. And this is after some 30+ campaigns.

Greetings Xecthilor

With exception to the combat bonus (that still doesn't help the AI with its tactics...eheheh), there is no fast building rate for the computer.

yeah. I think MTW is one game in which the AI doesn't need economy or building cheats to be semi competent which is kudos to the developer.

the combat bonus shouldn't be sneered at though. It's 30% on expert which translates to almost 1 more valour. it's 15% on hard which isn't so bad.

Thanks for the responses, I didn't think it did but I just wanted some outside, more experienced opinions. That tends to be one of my main gripes about a game, say, like, Civilization III, which boosts the AI's economic and building speed on higher levels. I can pretty well rule it out for MTW now, which raises my opinion of the game (and CA) even higher now. Thanks http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/bigthumb.gif
